Taking my dog for a walk at Ang Kaew Reservoir in Chiang Mai University was a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. This beautiful reservoir, surrounded by lush greenery and mountain views, offers a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The walking path around the reservoir is perfect for a leisurely stroll, with plenty of open space for my dog to explore. The fresh air, cool breeze, and stunning reflection of the trees on the water made the atmosphere incredibly calming. My dog absolutely loved sniffing around and enjoying the serene environment.
What I appreciated most was how pet-friendly and well-maintained the area was. Many joggers, cyclists, and fellow dog owners were also enjoying the space, creating a friendly and welcoming vibe. It’s a great place to unwind, exercise, or simply sit and take in the natural beauty.
If you’re in Chiang Mai and looking for a scenic, pet-friendly spot, I highly recommend Ang Kaew Reservoir. I’ll definitely be coming back for more walks...

Great place to read a book, meditate or have a picnic as theres some shade to hide away from the heat. Surprisingly very few mosquitos. The metal benches are placed around the lake but they get really cold so bring something for your bottom. Lots of people come here for a jog and quite a bit of Chinese tourists at the entrance during peak hours. If you come here in the morning you'll have a super zen time!
No bikes, roller blades or skateboards around but there's only one security guard at the entrance and he is quite chill so you can sneak in your board quite easily. Great place for long boarding as long as you are careful enough not to lose your board in the lake.
Other than that there's a cute Cafe near the entrance with great deserts and coffee.
My favorite place for...
