Kham Saen Restaurant — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Whoever owns this place needs to change staff immediately before they run such a beautiful place into the dirt with bad reviews resulting from the terrible service. If you can't change the staff, consider removing the 10% gratuity fee so that they actually have some incentive to do their job correctly.

Our company of 2 adults and 2 children ordered about 4 food items from the menu, and then the older male waiter asked several times something like "but maybe you also want pizza?" after we ordered. I understand you get 10% of the bill as gratuity but don't make it so stupidly obvious you want us to order more. He also did this strange thing that when he poured the water he didn't put the glasses near us and left them on the other side of the double table.

After bringing the food, the waiter disappeared and never came back. When I went to get the bill, I saw him looking at some videos in the phone with a younger staff member. There was one other table in the restaurant besides us, and he was just openly being lazy. No plates were cleared from our table for about 20 minutes after we finished the food, or after we paid the bill. We talked with another table about the service, and they also said it was terrible, but I can't remember what issue they had.

Food: 0/5. poor quality, badly cooked, and overpriced. Salmon was overcooked and dried, no taste. Sauce was just put in the microwave, no taste, oily. Pizza: frozen and just reheated, used canned ingredients as topping on top. Wow. Probably one of the worst meal I’ve had in a long time, and super overpriced too.

Service: 0/5, no hello, no thank you, no smile. This is very rare. I haven’t experienced poor service like this in a long time. We also asked for chili flakes, and never got it.. Staff don’t care about customers but love to talk with other employees. The only 2 words the staff said to us was “READY?” And “SCAN or Card?” And you have to pay extra for service charge 😂 what a joke.

We’re are happy to try this place so we know how bad it is, and we will never come back.

Atmosphere: 4/5 : nice and beautiful with outside seating, nice old Lanna style. But the staff behavior and the poor food quality ruined the experience, to be honest. Please avoid this place. You have much better options for beautiful cafe and restaurant around...

Food was cold and nothing special. I had better Thai food at the local market than in this place. Service was really poor. We had to ask to be served otherwise they just ignored us. Cocktails were one big disaster. The restaurant looks really good and stylish but there were like hundreds of mosquitoes so you can't even enjoy your dinner because you constantly fight mosquitoes. At the end we refused to pay for the service charge because we were not happy with the food, cocktails and service but the lady said we had to pay for it because there is no way to take the service charge off the bill. Also we were in Thailand for over a month, everyday eating in the restaurants and paying a similar amount for food but this place had some special high tax because just for this tax and service charge we paid in total almost 500 THB. I wouldn't recommend this place....
