MAYA basement food court
MAYA is a huge posh indoor mall in Chiang Mai. My dad’s condo is right near there so we could walk over any time. There are a ton of places to eat there. I like the basement food court. The eating area is communal, but I think the food is more authentic than the nicer food court on the 4th floor. Here are some places we like in the basement food court.
Moo Ping! - grilled pork on a stick Moo ping, grilled pork on a stick, is our son’s favorite Thai food. There is a stall in the MAYA basement that makes awesome moo ping. We discovered this place last year and we came back for more this year. The moo ping here is marinated in milk and spices. That make them tasty, juicy, and tender. The moo ping cost a bit more here, but it’s worth it. Junior had 7 sticks in one sitting and probably could eat a few more. He loved them. Each moo ping cost 13 baht, about 35 cents. They are bigger than the typical 5 baht moo ping at the market.
Spare ribs noodle soup I heard the noodle stall next to the moo ping stall has good soup. I ordered #1, egg noodles with pork rib. The soup was perfect and the rib was tasty. I enjoyed this one a lot and will try other dishes next time. Check out the MAYA mall basement if you’re there. We haven’t tried all the stalls yet so we’ll be back. I think my noodle...
Read moreMaya Kitchen offers a wonderful opportunity to savor Thai street food in a comfortable and controlled environment, similar to what you’d find in the dining area at Lotus. With a wide variety of choices, there’s something to please every palate. Some of our favorites included the crispy duck over rice, which was tender and flavorful, and the potato noodles, which had a perfect texture.
For dessert, you can't go wrong with their refreshing smoothies, delicious gelato, or the unique cheesecake milk with boba—a creamy treat that adds a fun twist to traditional milk tea.
The prices at Maya Kitchen are very affordable, making it easy to sample multiple dishes without breaking the bank. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the space is kept clean and welcoming. It's an ideal spot to enjoy authentic Thai flavors in a setting that’s easy to...
Read moreTried out the fairly new upper food court twice now. Both times the atmosphere was unfriendly (the ladies at the counter always nice, but chiefs and baristas are always surly).
I ordered food specifying no meat. I can eat seafood so ordered pad krapao talae. Minced pork was mixed in. I told them no meat and was told its not meat..it's pork...
My food was made again and some sausages were put in. I said again, no meat, so they began picking them out. I was embarrassed by the whole thing. The food was made again and undercooked. Taste is real bad and I've eaten in so many places in Thailand over years that I've lived here. I just left the food (which cost 80 Baht, which is really bad value imo for a simple pad krapao)
I rarely complain and I hate to do this but its disappointing and i hope Maya can give some...
