Arrived to the restaurant with about 20 people inside. Asked if we could sit outside where the tables overlooked the current market and that was fine.
We had our menus dropped down straight away. 20 minutes later still waiting for someone to come and take our drink order or any order to be honest.
I ended up having to go back inside to get the attention of the staff. Considering the restaurant was now even less busy it was surprising how we were just ignored.
Once we placed our order the drinks were dropped down quickly and the foot swiftly followed.
Everything was ok. Not exactly fine dining or even a reasonable mid tier bit it was ok.
I was extremely surprised to see a service fee added to the bill as we went to pay.
I've no problem tipping. If it's in a hospitality setting and even if the service was poor I would always respect the people who served me.
But it being a policy without clearly stating it is extremely misleading.
Before coming to the wine connection I read the reviews and they seem really mixed and from my experience I can really relate. On one hand the decor is nice and the menu items look good on paper.
But the cost for what you get, the inconsistent attention of the servers and the general meh quality of the food, it just surprises me that this chain can get away with charging customers what they do when so many other places around can provide twice the service, twice the quality for half the price.
I accept that me sitting outside may have contributed to the staff not coming to take my order, but considering I was in perfect view of the whole restaurant albeit on the other side of an unrestricted window it's just quite a...
Read moreI've always found this restaurant very consistent, with a great menu and great quality food. I like how they are always introducing new dishes. Service is also very good. I can't give 5 stars however due to my last visit when I ordered a Australian Sirloin 250 gram steak for a very reasonable 699 Baht. The steak came with chips and the choice of one of five sauces ( or at least I thought it did) I enjoyed my excellently cooked steak and chips with its side bowl of blue cheese sauce. To my surprise when I did a cursory check of the bill when paying I found that sauce was a EXTRA charge! I didn't bother to go back and check the menu to see where and if it was written that sauces were an extra charge. In my own experience, this is certainly the first time I've ever been charged extra for sauce when ordering a steak anywhere in the world. I think at best it's cheeky and its probably fair to say a little greedy. The blue cheese sauce was too salty in any case and the extra charge left a sour taste in my mouth,...
Read moreToday, it's VERY DISAPPOINTING as this place used to be one of my favourite. We ordered 2 beef steaks, mine was perfect, but another one was overcooked and very bitter. We tried to explain it to the servers but they just gave us excuses without trying to fix the situation. One of them went to discuss with the chef and told us that it's the way the chef cooked it. THEN, I asked her why mine tasted good. She didn't give me an answer and still charged us full price. Be careful next time if you go there and your food is burnt. They WILL NOT CHANGE IT for you.
FYI, other places including kiosks in night markets. If your food is uncooked or overcook, they will definitely give you a new one. THINK ABOUT IT!!!
Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
