When you’re in Northern Thailand you HAVE to try the most notable dish they serve. The name of the restaurant says it all! We had the Khao Soi Gai dish (with a chicken leg) and it blew away my preconceived notions of what to expect. Crunchy noodles on top, soft cooked noodles below, pickled veggies occasionally makes their way onto your spoonful. But what takes this to a whole new level is the coconut milk broth. The depth of flavor, the richness the coconut milk provides is not like anything I’ve had in my mouth before. Delish!!! Could not stop eating this broth. By far this is the best value on food I’ve ever had. One bowl will fill you up - 60TB ($1.85 uSD). No, this restaurant isn’t air conditioned. It literally opens up on a street in an alley across from Bus Terminal 1 in Chiang Rai. But do not missed this place if you are anywhere near it. A proud couple (owners), the wait staff and cook have deep pride in what they serve and how they present it. Google gives it 4.7 stars out of almost 600 reviews. Look people, if you are here to experience Northern Thailand, at this restaurant, you will TASTE IT! Highly recommend! A do not miss when dining...
Read moreNever ever say you have tried KhaoSoi, you know it, you dislike it, untill as well as unless you get to try here. Why it stands out here?
1 Smoothness. The thickness and unbeaten smoothness of soup. What do I exactly try to tell ? I put it this way, your mouth is haveing a wonderful Thai-oil massage. 2 Flavor. with unique flavor of coconut milk 3Texture. How Real egg noodles make you feel? just like you taking photo with real camera, always half press button to focus, then continue pressing to release shutter to finish the shot. This kind of feel you cannot get from the smartphone camera. 4 Balance. This is the real multi favor and sophisticately-balanced, coconut flavor, lime sour with smell, sweetness of coconut, less spicy curry for perfect balance as complete as Yin-yang. 5 Pork. Not only the quantity but also the quality.
This is real what Khao SOI all about. As matter of facts, although I tried many before, now those could only be categorized into OTHERS.
Where and when do I make this comment? I'm in Chiang Mai, a Michelin-starred Khao SOI special...
Read moreThis was one of our favorite Khao Soi spots in all of Thailand! We probably frequented here 5 out of 7 days in Chiang Rai. There's no huge shop sign but be on the lookout for a first floor restaurant with mostly outdoor seating across the alley from the main food court square at the night Bazaar. It'll had chalk boards set up with the menu.
Their chicken Khao soi for 60 baht is tremendous here. The chicken is so tender it practically falls off the bone, egg noodles were hearty and not soggy, and the broth was full with richness and spice. All the fixings you'd expect on the side too. A true balance of all flavor profiles.
This spot was a great spot to eat as well as admire the hustle of night bazaar food stalls. Speaking of which, kudos to the 2 folks I saw running this restaurant all 5 days we stopped by. They were flying around every visit all gas!
Truly cannot recommend this gem enough if you're in Chiang Rai. It's worth going to the night bazaar just...
