Larb Sanam Keela — Restaurant in Chiang Rai Province

old time local place, good food, good prices, real thai food, rare to see tourist here; thus the english is very little; no matter to me as i speak thai; this place is not small; the restaurant runs very efficiently, good parking; any tuktuk driver will know this place; the larb pla , spicy minced pan fried diced fish is excellent as is their tom sap moo (spicy pork soup); service is quite good, place is clean including bathrooms, western, this place runs on local regular customers, obvious that most if not all of them have been here before, they all seem quite content; if you are not a local, then this place might be hard to find, especially coming from the east bypass highway; if get lost just ask any thai in this general area , pronounce it lop sanaam keeeela, and they will know and point you in the right direction; not uncommon for a herd of cattle to be walked down that street by their handlers; there are ponds across the street from the restaurant and the cattle feed on the shoreline grass; good...

I would gladly give this place a 5 stars for its food. This is a local restaurant and there are lots of local. If the food is not as per the Thai standard. you would not see this crowd. Guess the only foreigners is my family.

Do ask for menu in English. Comes with pictures and correct translated English. Go fo the recommended dishes, you would not go wrong.

Ordered Thai sausage, fried pork, Pork curry. fried fish with garlic and dish of stirred fried veggie. It is more than enough for 4 pax.

Friendly staff and delicious food. I considered giving it four stars because of the heat but this is Thailand and the restaurant, being an outdoor (partially covered) place has no control over so they will not be dinged because of it.

We had the deep fried fish covered in fried garlic. It was fantastic; the garlic alone was steller and with the fish and a bit of the sauce was heaven. I expected the sauce to be fiery but it was only mildly spicy (hot). We also ordered the larb moo, a cooked ground pork with herbs and spices. They also offer the raw version if that is your preference.

The staff was friendly and were always there to refill our drink glasses. They have both Thai and English menus, which is really helpful if you don't read Thai. Greeat...
