Pleasant experience, food was good, service adequate, food served in quick time.
Very near the notorious WW2 Bridge on the River Kwai. You can walk from restaurant to an outdoor market and walk across the bridge. On the other side of bridge is a Beautiful Buddhist Temple you can visit, and a dock where you can pay yo go for a longboat ride on the river to 3 different river front tourist attractions.
Check out the open market, at the opposite end from the stairs to the restaurant there is a gentleman that sells shirts for 120 baht (less than $3.50 USD). He has up to 2XL. I bought my Kanchanaburi t-shirt here. I assume if you put shirt in dryer, you will end up with a shirt 2 sizes smaller, so pick size or launder accordingly.
Only 3 issues.
You have 20-30 uneven concrete steps down to the river, and back up. Those with compromised health or needing wheelchair access should call ahead of time.
The restaurant charges 3% extra if you use a credit card. If that bothers you, have enough cash. 2 middle priced plates, 2 small rice, a soda and a water came to 520 baht for a 3:00 pm lunch (about $15 USD).
Parking is non-existent, you have to park on the street, so be prepared to grab any parking spot nearby and walk the remaining distance, or take a taxi or rent a motorbike. There is motorbike parking at the top of the stairs to the left. My hotel has a sign for renting a motorbike/scooter for 350-500 baht ($10-14 USD) for...
Read moreThis restaurant is impressive and relaxing ,foods of course majority are Thai foods but price for prawn small 360 baht doesn't appealing and not reasonable for 2prawns compared to the picture although they said picture is for advertising only. Ladies wearing their local Thai clothes are not friendly but if you are a white farang they smile nicely which is irritated and not good because Bangkok Thailand is the land of smile.😣😣😣As we always say customer is always right I come here to enjoy the scenery at the same time not to have a high blood pressure.Services need to improve not 1 by 1 no straw, no ice, no tissue, that everything you need to asked, then, when you approached the food server lady she will give you the poker...
Read moreOnly came here to enjoy a sunset drink overlooking the River Kwai Bridge, not for the food.
Unbeknownst to us, you have to pay for ice…Bht40 just to fill two drinks! Total rip-off! Seriously?! For maybe 6 blocks of ice????? When we questioned this on our bill, the manager wasn't too phased about charging us for ice, let alone Bht40! Basically just shrugged us off.
As for the rest of the menu, its grossly overpriced. Didn't bother to eat here. We went further into town and paid a fraction of the cost of this place. And way better service and atmosphere too. Oh, and this other place (Kin Khao Lam Restaurant) we went to for dinner, they didn't charge us for ice.
Location and view of the bridge is great. But...
