Ali's BBQ Kathu — Restaurant in Kathu

I had my worst dining experience last night at this Ali's Bbq outfit. As a long term resident in Phuket, we dine out regularly. Upon arrival, I was impressed by the crowd dining in. Warm welcome fm the hostess as we had a reservation. Then all things went south. The pita bread was probably made with a waffle maker. It looks and taste more like a pancake. The lamp skewer came an hour later only after repeated calls to various servers. Went to check out the grill area and I saw several "cooks" working the food without a show of care and attention. Yes, the meat was cooked. But no texture, no taste, no aroma, no look.... In sum, this place is a tourist scam. Understaff & untrained. Only lowest grade possible ingredients were used to max profits ( all meat items were of low grade frozen variety). Luckily they offered "well cooked" meals. But no sign of culinary attempts. Ali's BBQ Kathu is an outstanding good restaurant. They combine very delicious tasty food with an outstanding service and care for the customer that I have not seen often in a beautiful way like that. We have been ordering already a few times for delivery and the food is always so delicious.

Our last order was the reason to give this review because it really amazed me. We have ordered for delivery and the driver of Grab messed up the orders. So we received the wrong order. When we have called there they did everything for us to get a new order on the way as soon as possible even thought it was not their mistake. They even delivered our new order by themselves and gave us a lot of additional complimentaries.

A good place in Kathu for who search new flavours and different gastronomic options. The restaurant is beautiful, have indoor area with air conditioning and outdoor tables and little huts. Healthy drinks and Irani cuisine are options that not easy to find in Kathu. For my opinion, the meat for the burguer have not the correct cut, because is too thick and difficult to eat, the pork steak had a bit of fat on the border and the chicken had a small part of bone, will be good to advice to the kitchen staffs to keep a better eye on the way to cut the meat. Over that, the chicken flavour was great, the rice and the lamb was something different and tasty, also the humus and pita bread was great, everything at more than affordable range of prices. Is a place in Kathu that deserve to try...
