Read moreMy family and I were really looking forward to eat at this restaurant again after our wonderful dining experience there 2 years ago over the holidays. Unfortunately this will have been a one time hit for us. To say that we were disappointed by the food this time doesn't start to express how bad the food actually was.
The tuna tartare with avocado was tasteless and there was barely any avocado. At least the fish was "fresh".
The Cesar salad was an absolute disgrace (the salad was for my 9 year old niece) and tasted like sweet commercial mayonnaise mixed with Iceberg lettuce and a few pieces of small croutons and bacon bits. It was so over-dressed with that mayonnaise that even a kid could not eat it. It was simply gross. I mean my partner who will pretty much eat anything had to spit it out in his napkin since it was so bad.
The burrata with Parm ham was great, but that cannot really be attributed to the quality of the food at the restaurant since obviously they didn't make neither the ham nor the burrata there.
My mother took the pizza bianca Thong Lor and it was basically just pizza dough and rocket salad, completely lacking in ingredients and taste.
The Bolognese for my niece had a weird gamey taste to it and the portion was so tiny. Mind you, we are not used to eating big plates but this was ridiculous as the plate probably didn't have 50gr of dry pasta in it. It was just sauce.
My spaghetti Roberto was not al dente, it was simply barely cooked at all. The tomatoes in it were cheap cherry tomatoes and there was only a small piece of burrata. The worse part was how acidic the tomato sauce was. I'm still digesting it.
My partner had the special artichoke and pecorino pasta and it was so oily and there was very little pecorino in it. The artichokes tasted like canned artichokes.
Overall the food was an absolute disaster and that made the bill hard to swallow.
The service was ok. The waiters were friendly enough but not so professional. Mr.Roberto, whom I exchanged through WhatsApp with was kind and I had a good interaction with him. I'm sorry I can't say anything positive about your food this time though.
The atmosphere of the place is nice too but it doesn't make up for the terrible food. Honestly I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone if you are looking for delicious and well-prepared...
Read moreI was sent here by "The Godfather" (my 76 year old Italian neighbor) who has been ranting that this is the best Italian in Bangkok. It's a really nice place. Half outdoor, half indoor seating. The lighting is good, kinda casual, kinda romantic, VERY ITALIAN, 😂 Pretty place with a good atmosphere. I felt very comfy here. I think the most impressive thing was the waiter. A very well spoken young man, Jackopo or Jack. Nice guy, knowledgeable in wine and was able to recomend a few bottles, all ranging from 1700-2000. I was forewarned, the place isn't cheap. 200 baht difference, I went for the 2k and wasn't disappointed. Very nice wine. He also helped us through the menu. We tried the tuna tar tar, which was quite tasty. They served complimentary bread that was great and a small 3 piece bruschetta and 3 piece liver pate is what my wife said. Now, that's not my thing but I tried it and it was indeed pretty good. We has a tray of cheeses and ham/salami. They were all very good. Angel hair pasta with Hokkaido scallops and zuchinni. Good but the scallops were diced up so you couldn't really taste them, I prefer them whole halved to get enough to taste them. The pasta was good, however. Had the veal but ordered it pan fried. I wasn't aware it was going to be breaded, so maybe my fault there. I squandered that one😭. It was good. I don't know about the best in BKK, I'll have to go back and further explore the menu to make that call. The Godfather says the truffle pasta in a light cream sauce is to die for. Always as Roberto or Jack for what they have Special, that day for something great. Either way, I enjoyed it. It's a fun place and 8ll go back to check it out again...
