I've known about this institution for over twelve months, having seen video reviews from the various digital nomads who enlighten us to such places. I promised myself it would be a visit on my first trip to Thailand, which was today. I'd booked a hotel to be nearby and didn't realise how close I was as I ventured out just after 6pm on a Sunday evening. I was shown to a table inside, given a menu which is also visually easy and written in English as well as Thai. I knew I was having the kra pao with ground pork, level 4 spicy with a crispy fried egg and when it arrived after a very brisk ten minutes, I was not disappointed. I would happily have paid for the flight to Thailand just to eat that one dish, chillies in fish sauce condiment embellishing the already incredible taste sensation. It's a substantial portion too and the icing on the cake was the fact that the Kra Pao, bowl of broth accompanying it and a bottle of water came to 79 Baht! I doubt you'll find anywhere else this good and such fantastic value. Well done to all the staff working so hard to produce such...

Visited on a week day around 2pm, no problems finding a table, the restaurant was empty.
Staff were quick to welcome and hand out menus, but we simply showed them photos of other peoples reviews that we wanted to try and they took note and got to cooking.
Water came in stainless steel glasses and straws, personally I'd say it was all clean.
Food took a bit of time, but we were fine with a little wait. When it came we were offered complimentary soup.
The two dishes we ordered were both seafood based, squid with rice and mixed seafood and rice, both topped with either egg or omelet depending on your wanting.
The seafood that topped the rice was pretty oily, I'd say that. But on a good side, nothing felt rubbery or hard to chew.
Pricing isn't on the cheap side like most street food, would be around 70-100baht to eat buy yourself.

Read moreFantastic pad kra pao in a little restaurant which was decorated so uniquely that it transports you back in time. There are many variations of pad kra pao, mainly with 2 staples, rice and noodles. You can choose the spice level from 1-5. I ordered level 1 (cus of my sore throat 😔) and my friend ordered level 4. There is a huge difference in flavour between level 1 and 4 I would recommend a higher level of spice as it gets smokier and the flavour of the chilli will envelop every crevice of the meat and holy basil. Highly recommend their instant noodles version as well, it's completely different from their white rice option; it's like indomee meets pad kra pao. Super bomb. You get to choose from 3 styles of fried egg as well. It's a complete experience. Of course like the other said, pad kra pao is everywhere and favourites are subjective. But please do give this a try, nice environment (Tom and jerry was playing on the TV 😂), good food and...
