If you’re looking for a relaxing spot with good food and a view to match, Shine Talay on Koh Lanta is worth checking out. I visited this place during my trip to the island, and it did not disappoint.
First off, the location is fantastic. The restaurant is right by the sea, so you get that peaceful ocean breeze and a stunning sunset view if you come in the evening. It feels like you’re sitting in someone’s cozy beach house—laid back and charming.
The food? Fresh and flavorful. I ordered their seafood dishes, and everything tasted like it came straight from the ocean (which, given the location, probably did!). Their grilled prawns and fried snapper with Thai herbs were the highlights for me—perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and served with that Thai warmth. If you love spicy food, don’t skip the spicy seafood salad—it packs a punch but is incredibly refreshing.
The service was warm and friendly, just what you’d expect from a family-run place. The staff made sure we were comfortable and even gave us recommendations on their specialties.
Price-wise, it’s very reasonable for what you’re getting—delicious seafood with a view you can’t put a price on.
If you’re on Koh Lanta and want a laid-back meal with excellent views and great flavors, Shine Talay is definitely worth a visit. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone who just wants to slow down and enjoy good...

I am not sure how this place looks like in the morning or afternoon but the night view of this place is Awesome. Thanks Shine Talay for the best service, ambience and quality food. We ordered 2 types oyster and full crab. Oysters were so delicious and crab too. Presentation of the food ordered was amazing. We spent almost 2 hours there. Best part is there is a swing at the end facing towards sea. Mind blowing view and amazing lightening. Our visit to Shine Talay was like choosing great ambience but when we tasted food we fell in love with this place. Staff was so helpful and they accept card. There are tubs where you can you choose your own crab, osyter, etc depending on size and quality. There are some toys for kids. I definitely recommend all the travellers (solo, couple, friends or family) to visit this place if you are nearby. This restaurant is in the main market and many shops nearby. If you have enough time then you can also try nearby restaurants. The restaurant is family-owned and they also offer tours and bike rentals. If you don't have a car they offer free transport back to your hotel...
Read moreI'll admit we thought this place was a bit of tourist trap, and only stopped in because the place we had wanted to eat was closed! But I'm SO glad we did.
Walk through the restaurant and sit on a little wooden jetty over the water, or even climb the stairs to a second floor with stunning views of the ocean and islands. (there's even a picturesque swing for an insta shot).
We ate Pad kra pao (Thai spicy please. And with a fried egg on top), massaman with roti, and a rogue choice of fried papaya salad with seafood.
The fried papaya salad was spectacular, very unexpected. It came in a huge bowl, the strips of green papaya and carrot lightly fried in a tempura-like batter with huge prawns, sliced squid and octopus. On the side was the classic hot and sour Som Tam 'dressing' with green beans, cherry tomatoes, lime, fish sauce and peanuts. DELICIOUS.
