Definitely do not recommend…

Came with my girlfriend and the food was very average. Many, many other better and cheaper places.

The owner and his wife have a terrible, confrontational and arrogant attitude.

Service was good from the waitresses/waiters. Apart from one rather strange experience with the owners partner/wife who came over to our table…

I had asked the waitress whether the prawns were fresh (my girlfriend and I weren’t sure as they didn’t taste fresh) and the waitress responded yes they are. Great I thought to myself so continued eating the other dishes.

2-3 minutes later the owners partner comes over to interrupt our meal, with an extremely defensive, rude and arrogant attitude. Almost mocking because we had dared to ask a question about ONE out of 5 dishes. We didn’t ask for a refund for the dish, and we didn't complain after our question was answered. So, why so weirdly hostile? My girlfriend also noticed how strangely angry this strange woman was.

Anyway, the owner came over to seemingly defend his partners extremely weird and erratic behaviour (which I understand, she’s your wife for some reason), without an apology. Unfortunately, the whole experience ruined our meal.

After eating in many, many restaurants (from average to the most expensive) around the world, I think this is the first time I’ve ever asked a question and received such a weird and defensive response.

I hope the staff don’t have to put up with a weird condescending attitude from the owners partner, and I hope she finds some sort of happiness in her life.

Seems like checking other reviews, other people have the same issue with these weird, confrontational people. And also with their not-so-fresh prawns.

Edit: Why do you sound so angry? Do you and your wife have zero customer facing skills? Maybe she should get a hobby instead of glaring at customers from across the restaurant?

My review actually came up on my feed due to receiving so many views. It was not removed and has not been removed by Google, ever. Anyone seeing my review history can see a good mix of positive and negative reviews - as you can see Google even gave me the honor of awarding me a high level.

I tip generously for good/excellent service and I leave bad reviews for bad service and food. It's not that difficult to understand - you can do it, I believe in you.

Treat people how you want to be treated in life. Life is too short. When I come back to Thailand, I'll be sure not to visit your little restaurant, don't worry. In the meantime, if I think of any more edits, I will be editing my review.

PS: It's funny how there's a number of reviews mentioning your prawns, yet you can't seem to grasp the fact there could actually be a...

Really strange?

They were quite busy and fit me in last minute. Maybe it was the fact that I was a solo diner that meant they thought I needed less attention? Bartender was far more attentive than the servers were… Although I don’t actually have an idea of who my server was.

The bathrooms were an odd experience, guest’s were out of order due to “too much paper being thrown in the toilets.” It happens. But instead of making the staff bathroom look presentable, they left all the mop buckets (and no paper towels), and made a big sign on the wall suggesting that guests were at fault for them not having a functional washroom. Why would you ever blame the guest even if it IS their fault?

Although I ordered my first course and stated I would love my other items after I finished, both of my courses came at the same time. When I declined the second part of my meal, the food runner was confused but of course, acquiesced.

A server then came back a minute later with both dishes trying to insist I take them. When I politely declined again, as that’s not how I ordered, she looked at me as if I were being rude. So I said “Please? Just let me finish this?” That was a seriously uncomfortable experience, because I’ve never had to beg somebody to take food away from me before. Then getting a second glass of wine was next to impossible.

Food was absolutely delicious, and ambience was great.

The manager kind of stood around weirdly watching everything but not really helping… We’ve all worked with that guy before, he’d take the odd payment and ask how things were, but otherwise would stand on the side of the room.

I hate writing reviews like this, but as someone who’s been in hospitality for the entirety of their adult life, sometimes a spade needs to be...

If to describe briefly the impressions of the restaurant, then it's delicious food and very poor service. We came with friends on Friday evening, booked a table in advance. Not all tables were occupied. We clarified with the manager where we could go to the toilet and it turned out that the toilet was broken. This is an important detail that needs to be warned about either by phone or when meeting guests at the entrance. We ordered dishes and after about 10 minutes they came up to us and said that there was no ceviche. We chose another dish, after about 15 minutes the waitress came up and said that there was no paté in two servings. We asked her to come back in a minute to choose something else, but she never approached us again. Food started to be brought to us and everything was very tasty. The kitchen did an excellent job! Thanks to them. After a while, we called the waiter ourselves to order a replacement dish, but it turned out that the kitchen was closing. But the manager asked and the kitchen still prepared the dish for us. We voiced all the drawbacks to the manager and shared our impressions; he did not apologize and cited reasons for why all this happened. The restaurant is located near the airport and planes fly very loudly. And the most important thing is that we ordered one paté (because there was no second one), but there were 2 portions included in the bill....

Stunning sunset spot! Caring service! This is a family business with a sophisticated design, but do not get confused about it being a fine dining place (as I made the assumption). The wine is on a great level, and the dishes are homey. We ordered shrimp pasta and fish tacos. The tacos never arrived, and there must ve been some miscommunication with the staff. A further recommendation to the restaurant: 1. Introduce the guest to the concept: dishes meant for sharing (and maybe served one by one) 2. Staff should recite the order to confirm and avoid miscommunication. But again, we could see how the ladies who work there were caring about the guests and their work they do. I would return there again with a better understanding of the concept. Also, book at least a week in advance if you want a good seafront table.

Chillaxing lunch by Bangrak's waterfront. Interesting, thoughtful fusion as well as Western menus. We ordered three dishes and enjoyed them all. The lucky dumplings is really something different on the island. Their produce is hands down fresh and nicely prepared. The menu is less diverse than expected but I hope there are more dishes to choose from; especially those that brings in the essence of Malay flavours - something that's definitely missing on Samui. Atmosphere spot on with nice, clean interiors, coupled with the sea views. Would imagine this place to look so good during clear weather days (friends and myself came during a rainy afternoon). Dessert tiny but likewise nicely done. Love to explore more menus at this cozy restaurant - hopefully in better weather days.
