Maya Burger Queen — Restaurant in Mae Hong Son Province

After having a poor burger I had even more negative experience with the owner who loves to threaten people after the reviews have been posted ( please read responses to low ratings) the burgers here are very subpar and I don't think they really are beef they are some mystery meat or they are so heavily seasoned it is unrecognizable to a pallet that is familiar to beef, I would highly recommend avoiding this place and I would research deeply into the other reviews that people have left confirming that it is very poor quality and leads to food poisoning and or foodborne illness. The owner is very threatening and barbaric I really think this guys going to get what he has coming, Me and my four friends plan to go back there and straighten the owner out because all of us got really sick we had to made a police report in the pie Police Department and they are currently investigating. The police told us that there have been several reports of food borne illness from this restaurant and they are currently conducting an in-depth investigation but you know how Thailand is sometimes with legalitys, It can be a challenge to shut a place like this down unless there are several recorded incidences which have been documented over the last year now and continue to mount , so anyways, avoid...

I NEVER post bad reviews however, My partner and I ate here and he is now in hospital with a diagnosis of an intestinal infection due to food poisoning. I got the chicken burger, he got the beef burger. After a few bites of the beef burger we noticed it was raw. He is now sick in hospital and it’s been over a week. I’ve read other reviews of people getting sick from this place as well so it seems it depends on the day but his burger was 100% undercooked. This is the only thing my partner and I ate that was different, every other restaurant we ate the same things and tried each others food, this is the only thing that came to us undercooked and the only thing I didn’t try of his. After seeing how the owner replies to some negative reviews, I don’t see much maturity in the way she handles feedback or criticism either. If you own a business, expect some people will not be happy. That’s all I have to say.

Despite the many positive reviews, I decided to trust the reputation of this restaurant to enjoy a good burger, supposedly their specialty. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality.

The meat was full of gristle, to the point that I had to spit out several pieces. The jalapeños had almost no flavor or heat, the fries were overly salty, soft, and seemed reheated in oil after being cooked the previous day. As for the burger bun, it was dry and crumbly, probably toasted to hide that it was stale, when a good burger should have a fresh, fluffy bun.

As a French traveler passionate about food and used to eating great burgers all over Asia, I can honestly say this was one of the most disappointing burgers I’ve had. I truly believe you can find much better places in Pai.
