Mama Restaurant — Restaurant in Mai Khao

For four days me and my vegetarian husband had our dinner here. This place appealed to us because it had two pages of vegetarian dishes on their menu at a reasonable price.

It seems like a pleasant family-run resturant where they always serve you with pleasant smiles. The dishes tasted good and from our second visit they started giving us pineapple and watermelon slices at the end of our meal.

I tried Massaman chicken curry with rice, grilled mussels, teriyaki fish with rice and fried rice with seafood. Everything was tasty and of good portions, except for the fried rice on last day where the amount of seafood in it seemed less. Otherwise, everything was amazing.

My vegetarian husband had pad thai noodles, basil fried rice with vegetables and spring rolls. The second item was my favourite whereas hubby loved the pad thai noodles.

Last night in Thailand, followed recommendation of hotel to eat here. My partner and I ordered together, a "Thai spicy" Masaman curry for me and a papya, (not very spicy) salad for her, with some spring rolls as an appetiser, and to drink a smoothie and a beer. The beer was served quickly, but we had to wait 30 minutes for the smoothie. After waiting 50 minutes I was served a particularly bland curry. 40 minutes after my curry being served the appetiser was brought to the table. I had already pointed out that my partner and I had hoped to dine together and was bluntly told that the kitchen was busy. Another 40 minutes pass and a moderately spicy salad is delivered. Меню довольно обширное, но в основном оно состоит из тайских блюд, популярных среди туристов, и морепродуктов, приготовленных на гриле. Морепродукты на гриле, с другой стороны, могут быть очень дорогими. Но что же с едой? Простая подача блюд напоминает традиционную тайскую манеру подачи еды. А что касается вкуса, то здесь нет ни одной претензии.😌

Обслуживание? Из-за того, насколько любезны были официантки, я обязательно вернусь сюда.🤭

Рекомендую ли я это место? Ну, это зависит от нашего бюджета. Если вы не против заплатить немного больше за хорошую еду и приятную обстановку, то конечно. Но если для вас главное - получить максимальную выгоду, возможно, вам стоит поискать другое место.

EN🇺🇸🇬🇧 ~ I've been to a fair share of restaurants in Phuket, and here's my take on this one. It's a bit on the pricier side, especially when you eye the portion sizes. But hey, the place itself? Pretty nice, both inside and out. If you are sitting near the road during the rain, please be aware that you may get wet.🫠

It's a decent spot for a casual dinner with family or friends, and parking's a breeze, right on the side of the road.

The menu is quite extensive, but it primarily consists of Thai dishes that are popular among tourists and seafood that is grilled. Grilled seafood, on the other hand, could make your wallet feel very light! But what about the food? Simple and uncomplicated, it is presented in a manner that is reminiscent of the traditional Thai way of presenting food. And in terms of flavor, there is not a single complaint there.😌

The service? Because of how kind the waitresses were, I will definitely be returning.
