Rustic is probably the kindest way to describe this seafood buffet restaurant with its, indoors, outdoors seating arrangements and basic wooden tables and plastic stools. My visit late Thursday afternoon was my first. I was greeted upon arrival. They have a pay first policy. Once I had paid, I was quickly shown to a table and provided with a metal plate, tongs, scissors, a fork, spoon, and single use chopsticks. The buffet is arranged in two lines, raw fresh seafood against a wall and a double-sided column running adjacent that was loaded with pre cooked options. There was a lot more choice than I expected and the quality of the seafood was exemplary. I am not a huge eater, but those who are should be aware that there is a 300 baht fine, per plate, for food taken, but not eaten. A great idea to keep costs down and food waste to a minimum. The restaurant wasn't too busy for my initial pass to collect raw seafood. By the time I came back go my table with some prawns and three baby cuttlefish, hot coals to cook them on had been placed in the centre of the table. While these cooked, I returned to examine the other options available. I chose to make myself a small salad with a cold, precooked squid ring dish in a spicy green seafood sauce. The restaurant was quickly filling up now. The precooked squid was exceptionally good, tender, fresh and spicy. I removed the now, perfectly cooked prawns and baby cuttlefish from the coals, and while these cooled, I revisited the raw seafood options to load up with crab, and for what for me, was to become the star of the show, razor clams. There was a huge variety of choice, so I will have to return again in the future to enjoy the abundance. The razor clams were fresh and sweet tasting, and needed no dipping sauce. The crab was equally good and worthy of my time to remove each morsel of meat. Non alcoholic drinks are included in the price, I'm not big on soda, so stuck to drinking water. Did I get value for money, I think so. Would I return, yes, but perhaps earlier when it is less crowded. One thing to note though, I will be applying mozzie spray to my legs, ankles and feet first as they were vicious...
Read moreAll you can eat seafood buffet for 399B per person, which includes free flow soft drinks and a few non-seafood dishes such as Pad See Ew, chicken wings, and pasta. This place is all about quantity, not quality: for example: many of the clams remained closed when cooking (indicator that they are not fresh)
Seating is very basic and uncomfortable on low wooden tables with stools, each table has individual charcoal BBQ's which is good for flavour, but creates a lot of smoke and heat. This place seems to be on the radar screen of Chinese tourist, who when we visited swarmed the buffet area and completely emptied out the bucket of live prawns without regard that other guest may wish to have a few as well.
Only come here if you want to absolutely stuff yourself with seafood. Don't come here to "enjoy" a nice fresh seafood meal with friends or family. Tip: if you are more than 2 people, request additional barbecue's, as one is too small...
Read moreBeen there a few times with a few thai friends and we liked it. A large, open air buffet barbecue restaurant very popular with thais. Far away from the west end of Jomtien beach. Entrance fee 400 baht per person. If you go on a weekend or a thai holiday better go early to find a table. Try to go after sunset to avoid the afternoon heat. Tables and chairs very basic. They bring to your table a barbecue grill and then you go to two large buffets and get what you want from a good selection of seafood, pork, local dishes, salads, fizzy drinks and ice cream. Basic thai toilets if you get the meaning. Nobody leaves this place hungry ! Everytime I go there I eat a lot ! Then we go for a walk on the nearby beach to digest it. Generally recommended if you fancy that kind of...
