New Jumbo — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

Jumbo has been in the area for many years, serving up western dishes at very affordable prices. Frequented mostly by seasonal foreign workers and expats living in the area the restaurant is one of those "Go To" places when you are tired of Thai Food and feel the need for some 'stick to your ribs' western comfort food. The restaurant has changed owners at least 1 time that I know of so there has been some minor changes to the original menu but generally has remained similar...I mean why screw with something that has been working for years. The meals are good...not great, so if you are expecting a 4 or 5 star culinary experience for 100 baht + then you should give your head a shake. The New Jumbo restaurant took over from the previous Jumbo restaurant about a year ago. Unfortunately the prices went up, but the quality of the food did not. Nevertheless, I go regularly because the pizzas are still cheaper than other pizza joints and they aren't that bad. I sometimes instead order the ravioli with garlic bread, the pork steak and pasta, or the pork ribs, all of which I enjoy. The other day I indulged in a piece of cheese cake and saw my waistline immediately bulge! The restaurant has fast Wi-Fi for those glued to their smartphones. All in all, I recommend this restaurant for decent food at a good price. But bring insect repellent with you; the biting insects can cause havoc if you are particularly allergic to...
