Beef Stew Ari — Restaurant in Phaya Thai Subdistrict

Sadly for tourists, Ari is just another BTS stop on the way to Chatuchak. On the plus side, thank goodness too.

If you're looking for a restaurant with a broad menu of Thai favorites, this would be it. All the food is competently prepared and the service impeccable, with staff that speak decent English too. The mainly local crowd know this is a popular venue and start appearing well before official lunch hours.

I was here to try the " Creamy Omelette on rice" and was honestly in a quandary on which to choose as there were many options of it and all sounding equally enticing . I eventually settled on the tried and proven minced pork basil rice though I suspect they would have all met or exceeded my expectations. Also loved the crispy pork with a sweet chili dipping sauce. The pork appeared to be lightly battered and crispy on the outside while still soft on the inside. It was perfectly complemented by the dipping sauce that was more sweet than spicy (with a hint of sour to add complexity). Ari deserves further exploration and I hope it stays off the cross hairs of the main tourist horde...

I wasn't expecting to be so blown away. I asked for a recommendation and they suggested the stewed beef with holy basil and creamy omelette on rice. I appreciated that they didn't select the most expensive dish on the menu. I wouldn't usually go for something like this but I'm so glad I did. The beef just melted in my mouth. It was beautifully sauced and season and the creamy omelette on rice, whilst again not something I would go for, was the perfect paring. This dish at 105 Thai baht was ridiculous value for money. I've paid hundreds elsewhere and the quality was nowhere near. Compliments to the chef.

Food here is superb and cheap. The beef is really tender and easy to chew. The staff speak mostly thai but they try their best to communicate using simple englist where they can. The aunty who works as the cashier helped to buy thai tea at another restaurant for my mom cause she wanted to drink it at this restaurant! To me that's really taking customer service to another level! I love this place and would definitely encourage you to try...
