Lay Chale — Restaurant in Phaya Thai Subdistrict

A medium-sized restaurant with a great variety of Thai and Western food (only Thai desserts though).

The perks of this restaurant are its pleasant atmosphere and big parking area (note: but most of the parking lot is unsheltered). They have a lot of plants both inside and outside the restaurant. As such, it could be a good place to host a party of 50 - 60 people.

Food is quite a let down though. While the salads (both Western & Thai) are fine, the main dishes have many flaws. Worst is the ka-pao duck pizza which the duck's smell couldn't be covered. The German sausage were so-so and it is served with Thousand island-like sauce, not mustard. The German pork knuckle was alright but too dry and hard. Fortunately, both the mash potatoes and pickled vegetables were tasty and complimented the pork knuckle well. The anchovy pepperoni was pretty nice too, if you can ignore the rather dry crust.

Overall, it's a restaurant I would come if it's suggested by others but probably not a restaurant I would...

I had a lovely dining experience here today, while visit the renowned Dr. Darat of Intimex Hearing.

We ordered eggplant fries, calamari, roast duck salad, and Australian steak. Everything came out delicious, with the eggplant fries and calamari being the most standout dishes. We enjoyed coffee and soda water as well.

The space is large and ideal for large parties / parties in general. Owner was very kind, and prices are commensurate with the quality / plating of the food. Decent blend of Thai and western options....

What to expect - Dilicious food. Good service. Spacious place with different seating zones and private rooms — karaoke is available both in the common zone and in a private room. Convenient parking. OK price.
