O'glee — Restaurant in Phaya Thai Subdistrict

Stopped by for a late dinner. Food was well presented but not super tasty. Actually kind of bland. Service was very good though and our waitress was great. Prices are not expensive. Atmosphere is also ok as it has a kind of Irish pub kind of feel. My only real complaint is the food but, as a restaurant, that’s kind of their main thing. That’s why I have to rate them as average at best.

In response to the owner who asked which dish I thought was too bland, my answer is:

1. the pork ribs were well cooked but there was too little bbq sauce so that it just tasted like it was grilled plain. Maybe coat it with more sauce before serving or add a small dish of bbq sauce on the side for dipping
2. seafood fried rice has a good amount of seafood but too little seasoning. Maybe a little more soy sauce or fish sauce and black pepper would help.
3. yum was nicely presented but the yum sauce was just seafood sauce which lacks the traditional taste blend of yum. I prefer a yum that has a bit of sweetness and sourness as well as...

Passed by this hidden gem spot everyday for years. Finally gave it a try recently and pleasantly surprised with everything I ordered, all delicious.

I absolutely love garlic fries here, grated cheese goes well with intense flavors of fried garlic and perfectly crispy fries. Couldn’t think of a better beer snacks.

Thai spicy salad with crispy chicken also really good. They used spicy seafood sauce as salad dressing. Absolutely delicious but so damn spicy and sour at the same time. Very satisfying Thai dish.

Crispy basil spaghetti with smoked bacon is another tasty menu. It’s like innovative version of kaprao pasta but better. Smoked bacon adds strong, delicious flavor all over this dish. A bit too much fat on those bacon cubes otherwise it’s a perfect dish.

Happy Hour discount here is quite weak (25 baht) But Samata strawberry shake fruited sour beer was absolutely unique and soo refreshing! Expensive but I’m glad it’s very delicious.

I would come back...

I went to O'glee to see the UEFA Euro 2016 game Belgium vs Ireland and was pleasantly surprised by the great service and cozy atmosphere of this well oiled family run bar. The staff - especially Fai - treated me in a personal way, asking for my name and mixing my crispy chicken salad after seeing me eating it in an non-traditional way :) O'glee has a great beer selection and serves traditional Thai food. Although the name makes it sound like a traditional Irish pub, I would rather call it a 'bar' because it doesn't have the typical tacky Irish style pub interior. At a Saturday evening this bar was quite filled with mostly Asians and a handful of foreigners. I will definitely come back...
