Phed Phed cafe — Restaurant in Phaya Thai Subdistrict

The food is great but the service is terrible.

We ordered a lot of food for the table. At first they said they didn’t have some options available. That was ok, so we ordered alternatives. They come back to tell us 20 minutes later that they ALSO don’t have the alternatives available.

We ordered something for 1 vegetarian friend that appeared to be vegetarian on the menu (no indication that there was meat or seafood in the dish) but actually had pork in it which was not specified on the menu. The server came and said they would not make it without pork as they want to follow the recipe (but the description of the product does not indicate pork). So they CAN make it vegetarian but refuse to even after not having so many options available.

So 40 minutes later, we still haven’t received our food and the staff wasn’t willing to accommodate for vegetarians. We press the button to be served and we can hear the chime from the staff area, but the staff are talking or on their phones and not paying attention.

Maybe it was a bad day, I went with someone who goes often and she said she had never had service this bad here before and that it was unusual.

It’s also so expensive. Hundreds of baht for som tum. Prices are high. Price was like 1500 baht for 3 people. Wow.

This restaurant is located on Pradiphat 21 somewhat far from BTS, I recommend to take your car. Although they do not have a parking lot, but you could park in the hotel's car park on the same soi which will be charged around 60 THB.

The restaurant is quite small, it could accommodate around 20 pax. They do not have phone reservation, but you could walk-in to reserve a table. They will call you when your table is ready.

I had dinner there with my friends. The foods were delicious, very spicy. I recommend to order less spicy, so you will enjoy your meal without a stomach full of water. The service was very attentive. The price is cheaper than other normal yum or somtum place. We have ordered around 15 dishes and it costs us around 3000 thb.
