Lyn's The Shanghai Cafe' — Restaurant in Songkhla Province

My travelling companions found this cafe online,as we wanted an afterdinner specialty coffee..and what a place this was,we really enjoyed it. Cafe was done up exquisitely and very tastefully so. Courtyard was very nice as well but i forgot to take any pics. Do pay the wash-room a visit while here as well,it is an unforgettable experience! Coffee was very good,strong and flavourful. Do also try their specialty dessert of mango sticky rice dish..the serving portion is bigger than normal. Comes with 2 portions of sticky rice,2 mangos and 2 scoops of mango gelato. Great for sharing and tasty as well, A-Roy Mak!

Unforgettable experience—but for all the wrong reasons.

I personally believe that at the very least, the price should reflect the quality of the food, service, and especially hygiene. Unfortunately, this place failed on all fronts.

The wait time for food was around 10–15 minutes, which was acceptable. But to my shock, I found a large piece of plastic in my green curry. Thankfully, I caught it before swallowing.

I informed the staff, and it took them another 30+ minutes to prepare a replacement. By then, my appetite was completely gone.

This meal cost approximately 700 THB for three dishes and a set of tea. Whether that’s reasonable is up to you to decide. But one thing’s clear: if you expect the price to reflect any standard of quality,...

LOCATION: Easy to find via google maps. You'll likely only come by here if you're doing a day trip out at Songkhla Old Town.

Service: The cafe wasn't really crowded when I was there, hence service was fast and attentive. It was the New Years and the staff were setting off firecrackers at the shop front. Fun times.

Food & Drinks: Alcoholic drinks are affordable. There's effort in plating and presentation. Food portion (I had the pasta) is small (but most Thai food portions are small). I tried the chicken wings for my side and it is tasty.

Overall, great spot to take a break from the sun and have a drink! Also, they are true to their shop's name and played Chinese...
