barracuda on the beach — Restaurant in Ko Tao

Important for vegetarians: We wanted to come for a nice dinner & I had good memories of this place. When we arrived we were really excited about all the vegetarian food options. Ready to order were then told that only one side of the menu was available which was basically meat, seafood and appetisers.

The staff handled this really well and friendly, and offered to make the vegetarian tacos. ⭐️

However if you want to treat yourself to a nice vegetarian meal (which they have plenty of, just apparently not for dinner), then you might want to choose the other location instead. It was a bit frustrating to experience such a meat based menu for dinner when normally they have a lot of good choices, but we appreciated how the staff offered us an alternative. 🙏 Maybe something to consider...

We visited barracuda on the beach on Christmas Day. The restaurant is at a dive resort and rolls onto the beach.

Our Christmas dinner experience was great, they had a set menu (expected on Christmas day) that was a cross between European / Thai style starters, English mains and European / Thai desserts. The overall pricing was reasonable e.g 600-800 THB (£15-20) per main. The wine on offer wasn't just Australian rubbish (finally!), so you can spend a little more and go European!

I don't give out one star reviews very often, but the person that met us at the entrance of the restaurant last night made me and my wife feel very unwelcome. First we were advised that there were no places on the beach available to eat (filled or reserved). Then, when I was ready to just eat in the 30% filled restaurant with tables, I was directed to look at the menu first. The menu was a few feet away, in the sand.
