This review is solely about the food and not abot the location or ambiance of the restaurant. Yes this place is next to the main street with a lot of traffic and rather basic but I had some delicious food in places like that. We love authentic thai food and even cook it at home ocassionally. We tried to get away from the beach to get a more authentic experience. But this place failed desperately. We ordered a lot of different dishes Masaman Curry tasted like something else patatoes didnt seem to be freshly cooked. Even my ten year old daughter said its not Masaman Curry. We also ordered a seafood in curry powder which had an artificial maggi taste to it. We also had prawns in some curry sauce also not nice. My daughter had the buttered / tempura prawns it was tasting like bread. Overall everything was eatable but not nice, tasty an for sure not authentic. The only nice thing were the fruit shakeswhich were really well done and made from fresh food. The service was nice but i dont understand how this place got...

We loved it here 😄 We found it on our first night and it quickly become our favourite spot for dinner on Samui.

The food was always great and full of flavour. They catered well to a need for gluten free food, and also helped us pick the best curry for a child to try, making it as mild as possible. We all liked different levels of spice, which was always catered to. We tried a range of different foods, from papaya salad or mango sticky rice to pad thai and different curries. The gang panang was a firm favourite.

The staff made this place feel like a home. They always recognised us, and knew what we'd like & our drinks. They are so friendly and would always have a chat with us and help us with our thai.

I'd highly recommend for a cosy environment and...

What an amazing little family-owned spot in Samui (Lamai Beach)! Everything is clean, flavorful, and FRESH made-to-order, we even saw them grab some fresh ingredients off of a mobile vegetable stand that was driving by. We ordered the fried fish (pla tod), tom yum goong, morning glory (pad pak boong), grilled beef salad (yum neua), and pork panang curry (gang panang moo)…they’ve got wine, beer, and cocktails as well…highly recommended, we will...

The place offers your typical Thai food for tourists. It's a no frills, simple and easy place to get your fix for some of their local dishes. I had their Tom Yum soup, beef rice, pineapple fried rice and sticky mango rice. All in all, the food was tasty, decently priced for a tourist cafe and the manager is really friendly. He doesn't try to upsell you with any of their pricey meals. It's a place where you can sit, eat and not get bothered by pesky sellers.

Maitai doesn't look like much from the outside, perhaps a little bit shanty and rustic. But food was surprisingly good. Kaprow was perhaps a little wetter than I like it, a tad heavy on the oyster sauce and light on the Thai basil. Still quite tasty though. The prawn salad was delicious on the other hand, with generous, soft lemongrass and chillies. Service was standard Thai efficiency which was fine.
