We had a very disappointing experience at Prego Koh Samui last night. We arrived at around 23:15, a bit late, yes—but we asked the staff upon arrival if it was still okay to order food. One staff member told us that the kitchen would close in 10 minutes, but gave us the impression it was still fine to dine, especially since we’ve visited before at the same time without any issue. So, we sat down and ordered, thinking everything was okay. When the food arrived, we had barely started eating when a staff member approached us with the bill, saying they were going to close. We agreed and paid while still eating. Then, just a few minutes later, another staff member came over to tell us the restaurant would close in two minutes and that the lights and electricity would automatically shut down. That completely threw us off—we were still eating and having a conversation, but it felt like we were being hurried out. Some of the staff were already standing near the entrance with their bags, ready to leave, which made us feel quite uncomfortable and unwelcome. We completely understand that we came close to closing time and we respect the restaurant’s schedule. However, we believe this situation could’ve been handled with clearer communication and more consideration. If it was too late for guests to dine in, we would’ve appreciated being told kindly and firmly from the start, rather than being made to feel like an inconvenience in the middle of our meal. We really hope that management or upper-level staff can take this feedback into consideration, as Prego has always had a good reputation and we know how hard the hospitality team works. We truly believe that with a bit more clarity and warmth in communication, future guests can enjoy a more comfortable experience—regardless of the time...
Read morePrego is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a lovely dining experience with a great atmosphere. Although it’s on the pricier side, the quality of the food and the overall ambiance make it worth. The restaurant has a modern, yet cozy vibe, with lighting and decor that create a welcoming and relaxed environment.
When we arrived, we had no issues with seating, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was attentive, polite, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and every plate we tried was packed with flavor and presented beautifully. The portions were just right, leaving us satisfied without being overly full.
For our entrées, we started with the Burrata Fresca and Calamari Fritti. The Burrata Fresca was exceptional—by far the best I’ve ever had. It was perfectly seasoned, incredibly creamy, and absolutely delicious. The Calamari Fritti, while a bit simple and lacking in bold flavors, was still enjoyable and well-prepared.
For the mains, we chose the Pappardelle allo Zafferano with lamb ragu and porcini mushrooms, as well as the Spaghetti alle Vongole. The lamb ragu was bursting with flavor and truly outstanding, while the spaghetti was light and fresh and had plenty of clams, making for an overall pleasant dish. As a side, we had the Spinaci e Scamorza Fusa—baked spinach with melted cheese—which was rich and tasty, complementing the meal beautifully.
While the price might be a little steep for a casual night out, it’s perfect for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself to something a bit more upscale. If you’re in the mood for a delicious meal in a great setting, I would recommended visiting. I rate this...
Read moreI’m vegetarian and a confirmed celiac. I’ve had celiac disease for a little over two years now and this is the only restaurant (I’m from Canada) that I’ve ever felt included in when it comes to the full dining experience. I’ll explain. First of all they have a separate gluten free menu, options galore! Not just a measly one or two veggie celiac options, a whole list of pizzas and pastas to choose from! AMAZING! Also, at the start of the meal, they give bread, oils, and dipping sauces for you to enjoy. Mmmm great, I get to enjoy my husband eating all the free good bread in front of me, while I waste away and parish from starvation, he gets to enjoy a wee snack. I thought my only option was to eat the garlic chunk on the side of the sauces. But then, to my amazement, they brought out a separate plate for me! Just for me! A celiac plate with three pieces of bread, my own dipping sauces, and oils. AMAZING! When the pizza came out it was enough to feed two so I had some takeaway (it was even good cold). For reference I had the Gorgonzola Pear pizza. Mid way through the meal the chef came out and asked how the meal was, which I thought was a nice touch. The only down side was, we went at dusk so I had to combat the mosquitos, while I was eating away happily, so were they. It was a bit annoying but no fault of the restaurant. A little pricey too but worth it if you want a nice meal out and treated equal as...
