We stayed at Chaweng Beach Resort and had a decent experience overall. The location is the biggest highlight—right on the beautiful Chaweng Beach, with soft sand, clear water, and a great stretch of shoreline to enjoy. The beach itself is stunning and well-maintained. The resort room was nice, clean, and had a comfortable layout, but felt a bit dated. It reminded us of older-style tropical resorts, which may appeal to some but could use a modern refresh. Service was fine—not overly attentive, but staff were polite. There are plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes nearby, offering a wide variety of local and international dishes. You won’t go hungry, and the beachside dining options really add to the experience. However, shopping was shockingly overpriced. We saw the exact same dress from Pratunam Market in Bangkok (400 baht) selling here for 2,500 baht—yes, with the usual "I give you best price!" pitch. It felt like serious tourist inflation. Taxis were also expensive. In Pattaya, you’d pay 10 baht for a ride, but here it’s 200–400 baht for even short distances. If you're staying longer, consider renting a scooter to save money. Overall, Chaweng Beach Resort’s location makes it worthwhile, and the beach itself is unforgettable. Just be prepared to pay premium prices for shopping and transport.

I came to explore for a few minutes and ended up staying the entire day. One of the several beaches around Koh Samui.. And as I have come to learn in Thailand.. you need to find your own magic beach that makes your soul sing.. Chaweng Beach is mine. Clear blue waters, white powdery sand and small fish swimming in the shallows.. palm tree fringed and dotted with several resorts and near by shopping perhaps makes this one of the more popular and best beaches around as well. What's great is the reef further in that acts as a kind of breaker for the bigger waves.. translating into a gentle lapping on the beach. Now if you find your perfect beach club, and have some drinks on hand, and cool tunes drifting over the water.. and the odd aircraft flying over (for take off of touch down at Samui Airport) you pretty much described Chaweng beach. On the eastern side of the island, sunrise is guaranteed to be pretty awesome on this beach. Come see for yourself.

So we have to start by saying we were a little hesitant about heading to Chaweng beach as we hadnt been for 6 years and last time we visited it was very crowded, noisy and very dirt, however WOW were we happy we decided to visit the beach again. We could not believe how clean the beach was, and how white the sand was and blue the water. We felt like we could have been in Fiji on a tropical island. What we also liked this time was the lack of hawkers with only a few people coming around selling, drinks, food and tourist gifts. My husband was hoping to find someone selling fresh doughnuts and after waiting a few hours a hawker come along with fresh yummy doughnuts. At the beach you can enjoy hours of sunbathing, swimming, drinking cold beer and enjoying some of the local food. As we were so impressed we return the next day for more beach fun. Also, there is lots of accommodation, bars and restaurants along the beach to enjoy!

The beach was tranquil, clean and beautiful. The temperature was perfect and the little hotels were so friendly serving cocktails continuously. The Food was superb and the service was great. We loved the beach so much we went twice in 2 days. What really spoilt the whole paradise theme were the stray dogs.I have been to Thailand numerous dogs and never gave them a though. But this time was different. The dog came out from under a sun chair and grabbed my leg and sunk his k9 teeth deep into my right calf before i knew was was happening he was shaking my leg and twisting it. I managed to get him off me by just smacking his nose hard and repeatedly until he let go. Blood was pouring out of 2 great gaping holes. i managed to hobble back 5 meters to the resort where we were sitting where the staff came to my aid quickly pouring antiseptic on the bite and arranging for me to go to hospital straight away for a Rabies and Tetanus shot. The ordeal left me unable to walk or swim or bathe. It cost over $2000 at the hospital and more costs will come when I get home. 4 Rabies injections at a cost of $130 each. I am so lucky I have insurance. !! So be careful. You don't even see the dog coming. He didn't make any sound he just sneaked up behind me and attacked me and started to growl only when he had sunk his teeth in . Very strange behavious for a dog that was not provoked in any way. I just thank my stars it wasnt my children or one of the little toddlers who had walked the same path with their mother not even 20 minuted before I was attacked. So Be Aware. Dont...
