Satimi is a 'Labor into which a heart has poured its whole love'.
So far, I have visited Satimi 1-2x a week for a period of 3 years. Sometimes more 🫣. Each time I make it a point to get a new flavor. Safe to say I have tried 100+ flavors.
Each week, Gai, the owner, creates a new flavor based on inspiration, what is growing in her garden, or ingredients brought from afar.
Gai, a local Phanganer, has created a true labor of love. She is one of the most genuine, kind, & loving humans to grace this island and makes some freaking good ice cream, gelato and sorbet.
Here are some on rotation that I do not fail to have:
Caramel Macademia Sea Salt Pistachio Tiramisu Hazelnut Speculoos
•You can try before you buy •No artificial flavoring or coloring •Homemade pancakes, cones, syrups •New weekly creations •Seasonal, local thai flavors such as bilimbi, santol, canistel(from Northern Thailand), snake fruit, pandan,
•Sustainable minded business(solar panels, compost, recycle, repurpose(fun fact: the tables that used to be doors were built by Gai's father who was the inspiration behind Satimi and an ice cream lover)
•The staff are sweet, patient and on top of it.
Step into Satimi on a hot day, a rainy day, on the way from Thong Sala, picking your kids from school, from a massage, from work, on the way to a meeting, post yoga, pre ecstatic dance, or as soon as you get off the pier. There is...
Read moreSatimi Ice Cream is a truly special place on Koh Phangan that you simply have to experience. The homemade ice cream isn’t just delicious—it’s pure magic. I had the chance to try so many flavors before finally choosing Cheese Pie—and what can I say? It was absolutely heavenly, a true dream! Ice cream doesn’t get better than this. Even Italians could learn a thing or two here.
But Satimi is so much more than just an ice cream shop. This place was created with so much love and magic by a local Thai woman in honor of her father, who adored ice cream more than anything. You can feel the dedication she poured into bringing this wonderful project to life every time you visit.
For vegans, this place is a paradise: in addition to cow’s milk, there are alternatives like oat milk and coconut milk, and the vegan flavors are just as extraordinary. The coffee is fantastic, the matcha latte perfect, and the cinnamon roll I tried was a heavenly highlight.
I feel so lucky to spend a week nearby, allowing me to experience the magic of this special place every day. A heartfelt thank you to the Satimi Ice Cream team for so much love,...
Read moreMy friends and I were in search of a famous "homemade ice cream" place on the island and were seriously disappointed. But someone suggested we try Satimi's and OMG! We were only sad that we didn't have time to keep coming back and trying all the flavors. Whether you're a gelato connoisseur or a newbie, you'll love the flavor combinations and the creamy deliciousness of the gelatos, ice creams, and sorbets. We sampled many flavors and reluctantly settled on two each but then all continued sampling each other's choices. Tiramisu, Passionfruit, and Ferrero Rocher are just a few of our favorites. It's been a long time since I've found a gelato or sorbet so authentically Italian. Hope I can return someday or that they open a chain. :) Pleasant location inside, small patio outside, and a few meters from the beach. Five minutes...
