Beautiful architecture, peaceful location

Last time I went there I suggested that the lights were a little cold and dispersed all over the room without the use of spotlights that can create a cozy environment, I suggested an orange spotlight light in the corner and less over head lighting…

My feedback was ignored, completely understandable, but interesting despite the restaurant being nearly empty every time I’ve been , maybe highlighting the need to improve the lighting/ offer more relaxation . (It’s very beautiful there so no big deal)

I think there should be feedback papers in every restaurant and a box to put them in for management to prevent reviews like this being necessary.

The main thing that concerns me is the unwillingness to hold a pen and paper when taking the menu. It’s strange to think all requests can be remembered every time, we are humans, and humans forget things. For the last THREE times we have specifically asked for NO ONIONS, even saying it twice this time and writing it down in Burmese translation on the phone.

But again, like the last three times, “spring onion” in the meal was included, these spring onions were also added to my French fries last time I visited after I said “only fries, nothing else added please”

We don’t eat onions, we are allergic, it really effects our mood and makes us dizzy and makes our breath short and raises anxiety.

Maybe green spring onions aren’t counted as onions and it’s a translation mistake, I’m hoping this is all it is.

4 stars because other than this inability to remember allergies, the restaurant is amazing.

So in summary if you have a life threatening allergy, it’s best to be aware of this experience, if you don’t have allergies you’ll probably be fine!

Thank you management for understanding that reviews like this can save lives and that overall you have a wonderful restaurant.

Just returned and wanted to update my “review”:

The flavors pop … the aesthetic is refined … the music inspired … a sensory feast! As a 20-year Sritanu resident, I’m grateful we finally boast such a sublime gastronomical experience in the “village”. If you haven’t yet ventured to Shalimar, do yourself a favor and dive into a delectable realm that transports you to another world. BTW, the mango, avocado 🥭 🥑 tartare is off-the-charts!

Shalimar is a gem. First, the resort that it is a part of is stunning. Second, the food is amazing. The banana leaf salad was epically delicious, so fragrant with kefir lime leaf and lemon grass. I also loved the chocolate orangettes. My friend and I came for lunch and stayed for 5 hours, it was that welcoming. Transparently, I visited Shalimar when it first opened (maybe 8 months ago?) and was utterly disappointed with the flavorless food. There’s a few things I love about this place:

First, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Love the architecture and vibe. Lots of attention to detail in the menu, they use high quality ingredients, even using cast iron pans instead of Teflon ones! That’s a huge difference between here and other places, I don’t actually know of any others on the island doing this.

2. you can taste that every ingredient is meticulously sourced for its quality, resulting in dishes that burst with flavor as a result of their light cooking techniques, enhanced by the use of extra virgin oils.

3. they understand that dietary preferences and restrictions vary widely. Fear not, they cater to a range of needs. Whether you follow a vegan, or raw diet, you'll find options that suit your palate.

The food is fantastic. All gluten free too, and the bun on the burger was so delicious! They have flavors that leave a lasting impression, they have created quite an incredible plant-based cuisine!
