Stone Beach — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We’re actually staying at the Panviman resort which this is part of, and we only went once and never again. I would not recommend this to anyone as there are loads of better options.

The setting is gorgeous and actually has a better view point than the others down the beach (Anantara, Buri Rasa etc) but the seats, loungers, etc have all had their day and look shabby. It’s all a little tacky…the restaurant neon sign and menus look like something out of the Flintstones or a theme park.

They also played terrible music - rip offs of popular songs. It felt so tacky and didn’t fit the environment at all.

The menu was vast and does have some good choices, but again verging towards tacky holiday resort with chicken nuggets, burgers etc on offer. We probably just couldn’t see past the tacky menu font and it feeling like a themed restaurant. They were supposed to have a BBQ option but that appeared closed. That being said, we opted for two Thai options and they were tasty..but still nothing to write home about! The drink options were good.

Weirdly half way through eating all the lights suddenly went off for an unannounced fire show on the beach. I couldn’t even see what was happening over the other guests, and it just meant we had to eat our meals in pitch black! No one had warned us about this and service as a whole was average.

Panviman resort need to do a rebrand and spend a little money on this and it could be the best...

Great view of the entire beach and lovely setting. The food was somewhat decent, pretty tasty and well presented.

I think what let the place down was the indifferent front of house staff. Not much of a greeting and a lacklustre wave of the hand to sit wherever we wanted. May be an off day but compared to all the other establishments in the area where staff are friendly and welcoming, they could do better. The organization of the staff was very confusing and need proper training. We were four and only one of us was able to order her food, since we were in a conversation we didn’t recognize that only she had ordered but when her dish was served it was hard to get a waiter's attention and order the rest.
