We had originally planned to dine in Bophut, but with the peak-season traffic making it nearly impossible to pick up our friends from Bang Por, we had to rethink our plans. While searching for a restaurant nearby, we came across this place and gave them a call. The staff was incredibly polite and honest, letting us know that a large group was coming in and that if we arrived at the same time, we might have to wait longer. Appreciating their transparency, we booked a table 45 minutes later and spent some time catching up with our friends over drinks.

When we finally arrived, we were absolutely fascinated by the décor—a perfect balance of elegance and warmth, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. But what truly blew us away was the food and cocktails—each dish crafted with an intimate touch, full of flavors that left us speechless.

One of the highlights of our evening was the chef himself, who personally served and explained the dishes to us. We were amazed to learn that he is completely self-taught, having honed his craft during the COVID era. The passion and dedication he puts into every plate are undeniable, and the results? Simply unbelievable!

We were so impressed that despite the crazy traffic from Bophut, we found ourselves coming back just two days later—and it was just as exceptional the second time around.

If you’re looking for a casual fine-dining experience that combines impeccable hospitality, delicious food, and a touch of personal charm, this place is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return!

Three "C" words come to mind when trying to summarise what makes Wanngram exceptional (by which I mean the BEST by far of the four 4.9 star restaurants I tried in Koh Samui.)

Control: Wanngram is not trying to overwhelm your palate as much as it wants to stimulate it in multiple ways. Flavours are clear, sometimes subtle but always balanced. Portions are reasonable but also leave you space for appetizers, deserts and cocktails- all of which are important to the experience. This is not the place to order one main and water - to really get to the nub of the Chef's cooking "identity", I heartily suggest ordering a wide variety of items.

Combination: Virtually all the dishes I tried here benefited greatly from the different elements being eaten in combination -in fact the service will often encourage you to and so do I. It's very obvious different textures and tastes have been purposefully combined to provide a variety of sensations with each bite.

Courtesy: Wanngram's service from start to finish was first name (for the booker) and appropriately attentive. The chef even helped us contact someone using his own phone when we didn't have the ability to do so. Thank you!

Taken together Wanngram provides a truly Michelin level of food and service. I wish Chef Max and his staff...

Located on the calming shores of the trendy Bang Po beach , Wanngram oozes a Thai retro bistro feel . It’s not in a prime tourist area and to be honest it’s the ‘other’ side of the ringroad , but that’s the beauty of a being such an intimate setting that each dish is personally presided over by owner Max and cooked to perfection .

The menu is amazing stroll through Max’s Thai heritage with abundant Europe influences . It’s not just the Asian food which is top end but amazing Eurozone touches such as seafood spaghetti and buttered eggplant . I haven’t tried the house royale ‘burger’ , as for me there are plenty more appealing dishes to savour !

My go to is the roasted duck breast with an accompanying lychee sauce and sautéed potatoes , it’s nearly healthy ! The mushroom pasta had a thumbs up from our party , who was trying a single night of holiday induced detox. Seemed a shame they missed the excellent duck breast but they seemed happy enough with their vegan pasta .

The food menu is extensive here , so take your time to enjoy a few dishes and add a glass of wine from a decent house selection . For the quality of their food , the $ pricing was very reasonable .
