Highly recommended. We were looking for a halal hotpot and so glad we came here. We loved the food, especially the grilled meat. The quality of the meat is great. The service was also great. If it is your first time eating at a hotpot/grill place, they will help show you what goes where, and how to experience it properly. The standard package of $599 baht/person would work for most North American and Europeans and includes hotpot and grill; you can get regularly consumed meat options (chicken, beef, salmon, seafood), vegetables, Maki rolls, noodles, and sides. The spicy brisket was our favourite; the marinated beef was lean but still tender. Includes drinks like pop, juice, tea, bubbles tea and some small dessert options. We were too full to have any dessert. If you want other specific items (sashimi) or beef parts (like beef tongue), they have other packages (deluxe, premium, etc.) for slightly more, but still reasonably priced. We recommend coming earlier in the day or make sure you don't plan anything after eating here because you are going to want to nap from the food coma. There is a hand washing station and...
Read moreI tried Mama’s Shabu & Grill, a halal-friendly spot in Bangkok. The place has a nice Japanese-inspired setup with plenty of seating and a decent buffet spread of vegetables, seafood, meats, and noodles. The variety is actually one of its strong points—you won’t run out of options to throw on the grill or into your hotpot.
That said, the overall experience didn’t leave a lasting impression. For me, it was decent but nothing memorable. Even my Thai friend thought it was just “so-so.” If you’re after a halal grill and shabu option with a wide selection, it’s worth a try, but don’t expect it to...
Read moreThis is the absolute nicest place. Quiet area, such lovely staff, and really really lovely meats (I recommend the sirloin and the squid from deluxe menu). I tried using google translate to ask how long I should cook shrimp, and bless her, this staff member stood with me and cooked it for me! Where I am from I have been doing carnivore diet, I think I am going to return to doing that and frequent this place for just the sirloin. But the shabu part (tom yum) was honestly my favourite food I’ve had on this trip to thailand. I will be back to this place...
