On March 9, 2024 (the day after the International Women's Day) and the last of my 4-day business trip to Trinidad, I went to Jenny's around 3PM, alone, and requested to be seated on the patio. (the restaurant was empty excepting for a party of 10 around a table inside). Eventually got take-out. FOOD: 1/4 chicken, veggie rice and mixed vegetables IT WAS AWFUL! The chicken was not freshly prepared and pulled like left-overs from the day before - the rice was salty with MSG seasoning - the mixed vegetables were tasty. SERVICE: When I arrived, I requested a table on the patio and was seated with menus. AS A LONE FEMALE WANTING TO RELAX AND ENJOY A MEAL. Within 2 mins of being seated a male employee of Indian descent approached my table and told me there is a surcharge of 10% but if I order from takeout and request to eat at the table there will be no surcharge. He suggested I speak with Marsha, the hostess. She said that I could not do that, so I just went to take-out and placed my order $84.00 ttd for food plus $17.00 ttd for a Stag beer and headed back to my accommodation at the Hyatt. Reflecting on what occurred I realized that 'single women' are not welcome to diner at Jenny's restaurant and to deter me the Indian employee told me about the 10% surcharge. - which did not make a difference to me - for at the hotel there is a 25% surcharge on food orders and in Canada there is a 13% tax on most items. Money was not the issue! Disappointment is my issue, regarding the service and the food. On a previous trip to Trinidad my lawyer took me to Jenny's and we got take-out. This time I went alone and just wanted to relax and enjoy the food. Unfortunately, my mission was not accomplished and my recommendation to the delegates of a conference in April will not be favorable towards Jenny's restaurant. If this experience was because I was a single female dinner and or a Black woman, it was inexcusable especially when the owner is a female. - respect, support - By the way, I was properly dressed in a white blouse and a loose-fitting pants. POOR JUDGEMENT...
Read moreCame for a late lunch with a party of three. We were greeted and quickly seated. Chrissie our very pleasant server took our orders and explained a couple of items on the menu. That's when the waiting began. We ordered mostly from the appetizer menus of each cuisine. The garlic bread came out first but not the chicken wontons requested as a true starter to the meal. Excuses from the kitchen changed during the wait and eventually the cook came and apologized but would not fill that order due to quality concerns. After another 30 minute wait almost all our main dishes arrived. It looked great. The Jenny's hot meats arrived on a sizzling platter. The meats were cooked to the requested temperature, save the steak which was overcooked by the time I could take it off the hot platter. The famous hot wings, barbecue wings are breaded but really captures the tasty sauces that make them good. The dim sum platter was attractive to look at but a total disappointment in taste. Definitely not worth that wait or price. The fruit juices weren't all fresh and when asked we were told this. Jenny's decor and the atmosphere are exactly what you want for your finer dining experience. The menu could have reflect more of the local fare that mirror the local legends on the walls. Everything we ate could have been had in a timely fashion at a casual dining facility for a fraction of the cost. Perhaps being short staffed and the Ash Wednesday lunchtime was too much too soon. I...

Absolutely poor!
Imagine if a person comes to this restaurant, with allergies ... asks that they respect the food allergy.... and Jenny's completely disregards this request. This person can literally die in minutes if things go bad with delayed medical intervention ... and it will be the restaurant's fault. And what.... are we going to tell a family that their loved one died because a waiter or a chef was too careless?
Worst dining experience in a while.
poorest service. I cannot believe you all are still making...
