Çankaya Lokantası — Restaurant in Çankaya

Cankaya Lokantasi is a phenomena. Whenever I was in Ankara, I walked by it many times but didnt know what a fantastic place it was until one day I watched it on YouTube when I was home in Denver, CO. It is a small, not at all a fancy restaurant which ran out of most of their food after 2 pm. It is 100% family owned & run by the brothers & their sons. They cook, they serve, they do it all. Whatever, I ate there tasted better than my grandma ever cooked. They have various kinds of typical Turkish caserol dishes as well as real tasty doner (gyro) and sis kofte. It is jam packed during lunch time, there is a line outside. However, they are well organized so you sit, order, served, eat, pay & get out to open space for the next customer in line. They ran out of food by the end of each business day so it means, next day, everything is fresh again. They sell 70 kg's of doner meat daily. Go there if you ever miss your grandma's or mom's dishes. You must taste all the dishes one by one. If you are a foreigner visiting or living in Ankara, this will be one of the best places one can experience traditional but excellent Turkish food for a very reasonable price. I can eat there at least one meal everyday when I am in Ankara. They also have take out. Too bad I cant take the entire establishment w/their owners to the US. Without a doubt it will be a Michelin star...

This is one of THEEE spots where I love coming to whenever I'm back in Ankara. If you're visiting and want the closest thing to a local restaurant experience, this is the place. The döner is definitely the go to, but they run out by 2-3pm, so I'd recommend going for lunch. Merkezi bir yerde Hoşdere caddesi sonuna doğru Atakule yakınında bulunan bu işletme tam bir esnaf lokantası ve fiyat performans olarak gayet başarılı. Fiyatları konumuna ve yerine nazaran çok iyi. Lezzetleri ise ortalama. Yani YouTuberlerin anlattığı gibi ye ye doymazsin tarzında bir sahanelik göremedim. 3 kişi gittik ve tavuk çorba, yayla corba, musakka, pilav, döner, terbiyeli köfte ve tatlı denedik. 3 arkadaşın ortak puanlamasina göre 5 üzerinden Tavuk çorba 2, yayla corba 2, Musakka 2.5 pilav 2, döner 3.5, terbiyeli köfte 3 şekerpare 4.5. Döner için lezzeti itibariyle biraz daha yüksek puan vermek isterdim ama etin sinirleri ayıklanmamış, az pişmiş idi ve soğuk geldi. Şahsen biz az pişmiş ve soğuk döner sevmiyoruz. Çorbalar ise sanki üzerine sonradan su çekilmiş gibi kivamsiz ve lezzetsiz idi. Pilav ise hem soğuk hem vasat idi. Haksızlık olmaması açısından tekrar yazıyorum. Başarılı ve temiz fiyat performans olarak da iyi bir işletme ama lezzetlerine üst düzey diyemeyiz. Bu arada otopark sıkıntısı var. Vale olmasına karşın burası park yeri zor bulunan bir yer. 12 ila 12.30 dan sonra giderseniz kapıda sıra beklersiniz. Servis ise aşırı çok masa olmamasina karşın nispeten yavaş ama rahatsız edici diyemem. Fakat kesme döneri pilavı daha sıcak servis edebilseler.
