We're new to Ankara. Happened upon Pizzeria Alla Torre and were excited to try it after reading all the positive reviews and seeing photos on Trip Adviser. Our overall experience fell short of our expectations. While the pizza was pretty good (not mind-blowing and definitely not some of the best pizza we've had), the service was terrible. It was so bad in fact that we won't be back. Our server - a redhead with shoulder length hair, we didn't get her name, unfortunately - was rude. First, she forgot our drinks. Our food came out, we finished it, and a few minutes later we asked her to please cancel our drinks because it didn't make sense to drink water after we'd finished our pizza. She was so annoyed with our request, that she literally threw our cutlery on the pizza platter as she was clearing our table and stomped away. A few minutes later, she comes back with the drinks and slams a glass in front of my husband. Finally, when my husband asked for a check, she brought out the wrong check (with more items on it than we'd ordered) not once, not twice, but three times! A manager came out but neither he nor the rude server said a word of apology. To us it actually appeared intentional: they must have figured foreigners did not speak or understand a word of Turkish and would pay whatever was on that check. Very unprofessional employees. Bad experience. Our night was ruined. We won't be back. Also, beware: a 10% service surcharge is included, so you cannot even teach them a lesson by not leaving a tip. Perhaps, that's the reason they act rudely and unprofessionally because they don't have to work for their tip. Do...
Read moreI had a little higher expectations I think based on the reviews 🤔
Quite pricy for what it is, but I’m happy at least each pizza had enough toppings.
We ordered one with gorgonzola cheese and pear, as well as parmigiana with eggplant.
Both were a little too heavy with the amount of cheese to my taste, and once it cooled off it got quite hardy.
The menu stated the pizzas contain „fior di latte” type of cheese, we had the same cheese listed for the started we got caprese, and definitely felt like the pizzas had more than just „fior di latte” cheese, gorgonzola + parmigiano, because once again, there was this underlying heavy harder cheese that just overpowered the pizza.
I also wasn’t a fun of the dough, it was too grainy with a crust that was more like a solid harder mass.
Definitely a little different than a lot of other pizza places around, but I wouldn’t go back, 600-996 TL for a pizza? Is too much for a - just pizza.
For a starter caprese + 2 pizzas and Coca Cola we spent...
Read moreI'm an Italian expat living in Ankara and in the last 2 years I've tried different pizza restaurants inviting to try their "italian" pizza, but honestly I was always disappointed because generally in Turkey there's a wrong culture and idea of pizza. For someone like me, that is used to certain standards it wasn't easy to find a good balance between quality and variety of the ingredients, proper dough preparation, taste and fair prices, but here in Pizzeria la Torre for the first time I was completely satisfied. Very high standard compared to the rest of the pizza tested in Ankara and closer to our Naples' traditional treasure.
The location is simple but elegant, calm and enjoyable at the same time. I also appreciated the service received by Pinar, very professional but at the same time kind and warm. She also speaks English fluenty which is not something common amongs the other restaurants visited.
