B.BLOK Bakery — Restaurant in Beşiktaş

This is the story of how San Sebastian Cheesecake became my favourite cake!

When planning our trip to Turkey, this cake was one of our must do’s! We searched for a good place and found B.Blok on Google and what can I say this was the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten! The decoration is really tasteful and staff, even though their English was below what we had experienced, very friendly!

The cheesecake was super moist and fudgy, a bit too moist in my girlfriends opinion but I did order the creamy version of it! I found it astonishing! It’s not too sweet, it’s creamy, it’s gooey, it’s simply fantastic! The filter coffee I had was also in the best ones I’ve had in Istanbul and all that for a very reasonable price!

If I recall, we paid 110TL for a slice of cheesecake, a filter coffee and a still water. Worth every last penny!

The cheesecake definitely deserves 5 stars it was really delicious. But unfortunately, the experience was a bit ruined by the lady working there. She was unwelcoming, a bit rude, and kept staring at us in a weird way, which made us feel uncomfortable.

When we asked her whether they add chocolate to the cheesecake, she replied, “We don’t add anything,” but in a rough, unfriendly tone. Maybe she was just having a bad day or maybe she’s racist, I don’t know.

It's a rare thing to try not sweet dessert in Turkey, imo. And this cheesecake was well-balanced in that sense. I believe it contained either some dulche leche or condensed milk, but still managed to taste not too sweet, which was pretty satisfying.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive: never missed our empty tea cups, ended up drinking 6 cups of quality Turkish tea. Price-wise it's average for...
