Cafe Carmenta — Restaurant in Beşiktaş

IT’S A SCAM. I asked for a “Special Breakfast” for 2 people and the waiter showed us a picture of another breakfast option on his phone, which was of course more expensive. I explicitly said I did not want the one from the picture and pointed with my finger the “Special breakfast” on the menu, to make sure he understood correctly. He seemed to have understood, but proceeded to bring us the one he choose anyways. We did not realize it was different until we received the bill and realized it was more expensive than expected. We explained multiple times that they brought us food we did not order and the waiter denied everything, he lied and said that i had agreed on the picture he showed me, which I had not. Moreover, the waiter was very distracted and I had to remind him multiple times to bring us bread and tea which he had forgotten. It is also not a nice area: a lot of pushy waiters outside trying to get you into their tourist trap and there were a lot of beggars, some children also got too close to our table. The food quality was ok, but there are plenty of places in Istanbul with better offers and also cheaper prices. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I would like to share my embracing experience with them while having a foreigner visitor from other country. I still cannot believe how come "The Owner" of the place attempted to get more money from my friend -which amount was literally just 200 lira more- and acted like innocent position. This is what actually happened we needed to pay 860 lira and my friend she just laid him 1000 lira (5×200 lira) then she said she has 60 lira exchange so just laid him another 60 lira. He supposed the gave that 200 lira back but acted like he never get 1000 lira at the first place. I was so embarrassed by him as a Turkish. He even took my number and told me that he will check the CCTV to let me know so if it is real I was supposed to pay that 200 lira back.!!! I said sure take my number and pls pls contact me so I can send your money back. Guess what ppl ofc he never did contact with me then so ever. Such a confident man! Scamming ppl only just for 200 lira(literally just for 6USD) PFFTT! You guys are presenting the country! Shame...

They scammed us. We asked for a breakfast for two people (pointing it on the menu, since they have a couple of options) and the waiter decided to bring us the one that we didn’t ask for, which was a little bit more expensive, despite the fact that we told him to bring us the other one. When the bill came, the price did not match and when we asked for explanations, they told us that they gave us what we asked for and that ours was still a breakfast for two people (it was, but still not what we asked for!).The Turkish breakfast was good, even if we had to remind a couple of times to bring us the tea and the bread.
