Morini — Restaurant in Beşiktaş

The food was great, but I’m really disappointed with the service. The waitstaff didn’t speak English, and it took a long time for anyone to take my order. Meanwhile, a group of Turkish women sat down at the table next to me and their order was taken right away. I just kept waiting. At first, I assumed maybe a different server who speaks English would come over — but no, it was the same one.

Water took forever to arrive, and I had to specifically ask for it. In contrast, the tables around me had their water refilled constantly without even asking. I encountered an unusual and unpleasant experience at Morini Cafe in Zorlu about a month ago. I am uncertain whether the unfavorable treatment stemmed from the “not brandy” shopping bag I had or if it was related to my ethnicity, or perhaps another reason, but the treatment was so weird especially that I’m a very nice person in general. There were about 3 available tables and they refused to let me sit saying that they’re reserved, so I waited for a customer to leave and the minute I wanted to sit the waiter said abruptly that it’s reserved, so I asked to speak to the manager, he was so cold and didn’t help. I used to be a regular at this restaurant as it used to be one of the best restaurants in Istanbul to eat Italian food. I visited it a couple of days ago after a while. The food was fine but I was not impressed with their tiramisu which had a weird aftertaste and which used to be excellent before. I have mentioned it to the waiter and they did nothing about it. Furthermore, I ordered a glass of Gavi di Gavi white and I believe I was served some Turkish wine which I am not a fan of.
