Restaurant Review for Gocek Meyhane
For those unfamiliar, a 'meyhane' is a traditional Turkish tavern where food, drink, and music come together for an experience that transcends mere dining. It's a place for celebration, where the clink of glasses often accompanies the clink of cutlery, and where the spirit of togetherness is as much on the menu as the food.
Review:
Wow, my first impression of Ahali Gocek Meyhane was quite disappointing. Service started off shaky; it seemed like all tables had been seated simultaneously, creating a cramped, almost chaotic atmosphere. The place was packed, with hardly any room for the waitstaff to move, let alone to dance, which is a signature part of the meyhane experience. Our table was squeezed between two large, boisterous groups, making for a less than ideal setting for our intimate duo.
I found myself questioning my decision, especially after relying on an Instagram post for booking, something I rarely do. I feared I'd made a grave error in choosing this place.
But here's where the magic of Gocek Meyhane kicked in. As the evening progressed, the initial hiccups faded into the background. The music took over, transforming the atmosphere into something electric. The patrons, initially overwhelming, turned out to be the highlight. By the end of the night, it felt as though we were old friends with fellow diners, the musicians, and even the Ahali team.
The food, too, was exceptional, adding to the joy of the evening. I left not only satisfied but eagerly anticipating my return. If you're looking for the quintessential meyhane experience, give Ahali Gocek Meyhane a chance. It might start with a bit of chaos, but it ends in a celebration of community, music, and...
Read moreMeze wasn’t fresh with fridge taste, super oily. Stuff charged us more when they brought us a bill it was extra water and appetizer which we didn’t order they brought us this and we said no we didn’t order it so they charged us for that.
Also they recalculate our bill after that, it was 185Tl but on card machine they charged us 420Tl and we saw it when we paid.
When we said to owner of the place that we didn’t like taste of food they said “IT’S UP TO YOU”
After a long conversation they returned us money by cash (it was 240 TL) so no discount, no apologies. They shouldn’t charge us after that but...
