BALIK PAZARI ÇALIŞ — Restaurant in Fethiye

I had a wonderful experience at the BALIK PAZARI ÇALIS Restaurant with friends last night, which I highly recommend if you are looking for a charming, authentic, and delicious seafood Dinner.

The Restaurant is located 300 yards from the Water Taxi Office in Çalis, and if you are on a water taxi coming back from Fethiye, you can spot the Restaurant easily on the left hand side of the canal... just before the boat docks.

The host "Lale" and her Family provide an excellent, charming, and very engaging service. A large variety of Fish, brought ashore daily by a local Fishermen Cooperative, is also sold on the premises and is super fresh!

The fish of your choice is grilled for you, and it's served with a variety of delicious and authentically local side dishes.

Prepare to be amazed by the generosity and the hospitality of Lale and her Family. We enjoyed our dinner so much last night, we booked again for this evening before leaving the restaurant.

I love the ethos of the Balik Pazari Çalis Restaurant: the fact the Fish is caught locally, in a sustainable manner, and by local Fisherman .... leaving a very low foot print on the environment.

I cannot recommend this hidden gem enough! But... don't take my word for it... go and see for yourselves!

1-Be Careful, Before you order something, make sure of the price because if you aren't Turkish citizen, they will probably steal you .

2-They will give you much higher price than others.

3- They put different price than invoice items price to make the invoice higher.

4-They gave me kilo price 120 tl and the price was 70 tl just because Iam foreigner

5-They told me before buying they are servings rice, fries and salad but they only give me the fish

6- One of the owners on this restaurant is so rude with people .

7-Another women was trying to ask rudely for tips.

8-If I decided not to go to turkey again , it will be because of people like in this restaurant.

Very bad experience.

I will contact the tourism office as one of the guys when I asked for the invoice, they gave me nothing and...

Asked for dorado and calamari grill - the owner said "sure, I can do grill". Received fried (and overcooked) fish and fried calamari. Paid 700 TL for fish and 800TL for 2 calamari. Terrible mix of prices and quality.

Just as a comparison: yesterday had amazingly grilled fish with broccoli risotto and seafood pasta in a fine-cousine Italian restaurant in the harbor of Marmaris for 725 and 750TL.

Do not recommend ay all! Please, stay away and rather go to any other seafood restaurant either at the Calis beach or other places. This place might be a viable option as with 1/5 or 1/4 of the price they charge....
