This place has an english translation as Bird sanctuary. It was not clear from the descriptions what it was. Some local reviews confuse the place with Calis beach, which is nearby. However, this is not a beach. It appears to be a smaller nature reservation. However, there is more or less no access to it. It is surrounded on one side by a fence, on the other side by a fence and a parking lot. There is rubbish all around the fence. Only part of the area is accessible to the public and there is not much to see from there. The place is used by local fishermen. And also part of the place is used as a parking for small boats. Read moreThis is one of the last remaining salt marsh areas in Fethiye / Calis area. Many other marsh areas have been filled in and some are now covered in housing units. Over the 20 years that I have known this space , it has regularly come under threat . Although it is officially protected ,its existence is fragile ,and its once secluded nayure has been progressively eroded. That said it is still worth visiting, and dependant on the seasons hosts a varying range of birds, some on migratory passage. Access is not obvious as the signage is almost non existant, but it can be found next to the Calis access canal, or off the far end of the main promenade, towards Fethiye.
