Nestled in the picturesque town of Fethiye, Mugla, Turkey, Sahil Lokantalari beckons travelers and locals alike with the promise of authentic Turkish home cooking. As a travel enthusiast with a penchant for nostalgic flavors, my heart was set on experiencing the traditional tastes reminiscent of my boarding school days at Talas.
Upon arriving at Sahil Lokantalari, the bustling crowd was a reassuring sign of the restaurant's popularity. Despite having missed the peak lunch hour, the eatery remained alive with vibrant conversations and the aroma of delectable dishes wafting through the air.
The menu displayed a tantalizing array of Turkish classics, each one inviting me on a culinary adventure down memory lane. Having a soft spot for the hearty combination of beans kuru fasulye and rice pilav from my boarding school days, I was eager to delve into the authentic flavors of Turkish home-cooked meals.
Choices abound between the sumptuous mezes and the mouthwatering main dishes. My dilemma was further complicated by the rare sight of tripe soup among the offerings, a delicacy not commonly found in many restaurants. Ultimately, my desire for a genuine taste of home led me to the traditional dishes, showcasing rich and comforting flavors like stuffed peppers and succulent lamb shanks drenched in a delectable sauce.
The restaurant's modern approach to service impressed me as well. Ordering was seamlessly done through an electronic system, ensuring accurate and efficient service. Soon after placing my order, the dishes arrived gracefully on a mobile tray, eliminating any worries about potential mix-ups.
Throughout the meal, I couldn't help but notice the restaurant's impeccable cleanliness and the efficiency of the staff, particularly the attentive komi's who promptly cleared tables after each dining experience. The level of care and attention to detail was evident in every aspect of Sahil Lokantalari, enhancing the overall dining experience.
For those venturing into the Fethiye neighborhood, I wholeheartedly recommend Sahil Lokantalari for an unforgettable lunch feast. The delightful variety of common Turkish foods, lentil soup, and the rare tripe soup will surely satisfy any cravings for home-style cooking. And for those who prefer grilled delights, the evening offerings, such as Adana, Urfa, and shish kebap, are sure to delight the taste buds.
Sahil Lokantalari not only offers a feast for the senses but also captures the essence of Turkish culinary traditions. So, whether you seek a reminiscent journey to your favorite school meals or a chance to savor authentic Turkish delights, this charming restaurant is a must-visit culinary gem in the...
Read moreA v pleasant restaurant, welcoming with nice decor. We had been looking around for the ultimate Turkish doner and hadn't seen one anywhere in fetihye til our last night, so when we saw it as we walked in, we HAD to order the iskendari kebab. We were not disappointed! Beef was juicy and full of flavour, however the sauce was not to our personal preference but the yoghurt sauce went v well with it. It took quiet a while in coming though, the first dished served was nearly eaten ( we think that there may have been some miscommunication when the order was placed). We also ordered the roast lamb ( it's not roast lamb the way we think of it! ), it was small cubes, roasted. We've found meat everywhere in fetihye on the chewy side, it was the same here too.... On its own the flavours are okay for ppl who like mild but we added the chilli flakes and herbs which were on the table, squeezed some fresh lemon and ate it with the whole green fresh chillies that came with the salad. Together it was quiet a tasty combination. Some hot sauce as a condiment option would have taken it to another level. Portion sizes are generous and we left feeling v full! Just a point to note, be aware that the really chilled water presented as soon as you have ordered, is not complimentary 🙂. We were charged 6tl each for 2bottles, which did get deducted after we pointed out that we had not ordered them. Recommend by family who'd been before on their visits being halal with No alcohol served was a big plus point for us. The staff were polite and friendly. We didn't order any chicken dishes anywhere in fetihye as chicken are usually stunned in turkey. Overall A pleasant experience and a must try if you are in the area. Would definitely be coming again if we happen to be...
Read moreWe love this restaurant. This is the best restaurant food we had in the recent trip. (we travelled one city/day without guide, so could not find good local food.). I found this one by accident - when we were on bus returning to the hotel close to 9pm, there were full of local people in this restaurant - really full. The next day, we delayed the trip to Antalya and came here at lunch time. We had a great meal and take away the rest for dinner.
Since all the food were cooked and in display, - a bit like university canteen - I could quickly order the food, took me only a couple of minutes. And the serving is extremely quick too!
There are a lot of similar dishes here like Chinese food, although different spices/cooking methods are used, like beef stew with potatos and carrots (牛肉土豆胡萝卜), aubergine with mince 肉沫茄子,stir fried spinach 炒菠菜. In this trip, I found a lot of Turkish home cooked food taste like Chinese dishes, but it's very hard to find them in the high street of tourist areas. This restaurant is a star!
The service is also fantastic, we received a lot of warm welcomes from...
