We went out for sushi tonight, expecting it to be fresh and delicious. However, I was disappointed with the experience. Let me explain in detail. Ideally, sushi should be prepared on the spot, with sticky rice that isn't too tightly packed. The rice-to-filling ratio should result in a thin layer of rice, showcasing the fresh ingredients in the inside and on the top. To complete the dish, various sauces like spicy mayo or teriyaki sauce are usually added. In this case, it seemed like the rolls were pre-prepared since the rice was dry and overly compressed, with a presumed layer that indicated they could have been sitting in the fridge for a while.

The quality of the fish was quite average overall. The salmon was probably the best, while the tuna had a slightly fishy taste. The toro, in particular, had an odd brownish color. Normally, toro is known for its rich fattiness, and it should not appear brown. This indicates that the toro we received was of poor quality.

The rolls came in sets of eight, and they were filled with an excessive amount of rice. They were priced at 400 lira, while just two pieces of sushi would cost 180 lira.

Now, I'd like to show you a picture of what we ordered and a genuine picture of what toro should look like. As you can see, the toro we received was not up to standard. I want to make it clear that I'm not complaining about this specific restaurant, but I always provide honest feedback in my reviews. I hope this information helps other customers. On a positive note, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly...

We went here last year and did the Chefs table and several bottles of wine between 4 of us and it was great. Couldn’t fault it. Went this year for pre dinner drinks and snacks. Not so good I’m afraid. My cocktail which was supposed to have brandy and ginger ale was incredibly weak and watery. I eventually told them after being reluctant to complain and my friend had also tasted it and to be fair we had drank quite a bit of it. They offered to take it away and offered me another one, I accepted, they then wound back the canopy whilst it was raining, and just ours and no one else’s. Upon leaving they charged me for both cocktails and there was no negotiation and there approach wasn’t a friendly one. We removed the service charge and we obviously offended we’d complained, however, I don’t feel there response was friendly at all and made us feel uncomfortable meaning we won’t be returning when we return to Kalkan which is...

We had a very bad experience here, they made us wait for 1 hour for our orders. We ordered at 8:30pm and the place was half empty. Then 3-4 tables came after us were served nicely on time.

After an hour of waiting I kindly asked about our order to different waiters and they all look like they dont know. Then we decided to leave without our food and asked the check. Then they brought our order and they didnt even apologize or anything.

It was very funny that one of the waiters was making me prove that we waited for 1 hour. Very disrespectful. The food is below average, couldnt even finish. There are many better restaurants.

I suggest you to not to spend...

Salt & Pepper was the first restaurant I ever ate at on my very first visit to Kalkan and it's safe to say it's become a firm favourite and must visit ever since! The stunning harbour side location offers incredible views both day and night, with the fantastic team creating the perfect friendly atmosphere, it really is easy to spend hours here watching the world go by. Of course there is the food too, I still remember the delicious octopus starter I had on my first trip and the steak is now a go to on their extensive menu. Plus the lemon gin and tonic makes for a perfect end to the night! Thank You All!

Salt and Pepper offers a lot to appreciate. The fantastic view and prime location create a delightful dining atmosphere. The staff's friendliness adds to the positive experience, and the overall food quality is commendable. However, I found the sushi to be lacking compared to my expectations, and the saltiness of the salmon dish was a downside for me. Despite these minor setbacks, the combination of positives makes Salt and Pepper a spot worth considering for a satisfying dining experience with a picturesque backdrop.
