Disappointing. Definitely not worthy of the 5/5 rating that brought us here. The food lacks flavor. The red curry, tom yum, tom kha gai, and especially the pad thai were bland. The pad thai comes with crushed peanuts, chili flakes, lemon, and sugar (!) on the side so you can put it in yourself, so you basically are making it yourself, except there's not enough peanut sauce and no salt anywhere to be found in the restaurant. The sweet and sour chicken was the best dish we had, the only truly flavorful dish. The portions were not at all generous as another review claimed. We ordered 3 soups, 3 entrees, 3 drinks and 2 orders of rice for 3 people and left somewhat less than full. It was expensive, too. It wasn't a bad experience exactly, the service was good and while the restaurant itself is cramped, it is pretty nice. Although there are a lot of flies buzzing around, and the stairs to the bathroom are treacherous for a person with limited mobility. Having been brought here by the extremely high rating here I was very disappointed. It's not bad, just not as good as you might expect if you're here reading these reviews. We made a special trip to eat here and that...
Read moreWe had been frantically looking for authentic Thai cuisine on the Asian side of Istanbul since couple of years. Piya Thai was a delight. We had a great experience there on a chilled weekday evening. For two of us, we ordered Tom Yum Fish soup, some Pad Thai Chicken noodles and Stir fried Shrimps with rice(set). Each of the above was well made, with the right blend of spices and authentic Thai flavours . We like our food real hot and spicy,( which you just don't get easily in Istanbul)and the chefs did a great job with the right amount of chilli. The portions are large, the meat generous and food is totally value for money. We ordered the rose milk which was well made . We finished the food with some mango(frozen) with sticky rice and totally loved it. The staff is courteous and friendly. For a new restaurant, Piya Thai looks very promising. I would be definitely going as well as ordering from them again. If it keeps up with its food quality, pricing and service, it will do really well as there is no Thai restaurant on this side...
Read moreAmazing and authentic! The cooks are 4 beautiful Thai ladies who create incredible dishes.I’ve been to Thailand over 8 times and let me tell you, this is the real deal. Delicious, authentic, fast and fresh— food lovers everywhere, this is a must try!
The pad Thai noodles are a favourite, shrimp is better than chicken, but both are tasty.
The shrimp glass noodle salad is light and fresh.
Papaya salad is a must. Spicy, sour, sweet and umami—and the peanuts add a great crunch and even more flavour.
The red curry with chicken is sooo flavourful and rich.
The last recommendation is the sweet and sour chicken. Absolutely out of this world. The three of us at dinner all agreed it was the best dish we had here.
Must visit this place for anyone craving authentic Thai food…We came two...
