Vecihi Bar — Restaurant in Konak

Gawdddd.... this place is horrible. I am a Canadian tourist (female) and I was walking with a friend who was also a tourist from India (male) and we came across this bar. It looked bumping and the music sounded okay so we decided to check it out.

We were finishing up our beers that we bought at a store so we sat in the front patio of the bar with the permission of the bouncer. The bouncer wanted us to leave at first but then we told him we just wanted to finish our drinks before entering the club, so he said "no problem".

Then, all of a sudden, the bouncer told us that we can't drink there (probably due to his rude coworker... who I refer to later in this review). So my friend and I left without making a fuss and just drank the rest of our beers and kept chatting, fully intending to return once our beers were finished. We were sitting on the steps to an entrance of a closed store/building, which was right across from this Vecihi club. The bouncers could see us, as we were just on the other side of the walkway, and they clearly kept staring at us, but we didn't think much of it.

Anyway, while me and my friend chatted, we saw many people enter the club without issue. When we finished the rest of our beers, about 30 minutes later, we tried to enter the bar and the rude coworker (not the initial bouncer) said "No!" and that they're "not accepting more people". Total lies. People were going in and out of that place like a revolving door. So strange.

So I politely pleaded with the rude coworker to explain why we can't enter, especially because of how many people went in and the fact that we didn't cause any trouble. He wouldn't budge. So I literally said, "Ok, we're not arguing, we'll leave. But I'd just like to know why" and he waved me and my friend off rudely and dismissively... like we were worthless peasants or homeless people. They really just... didn't want us to go in there.

Sigh... I've been in Turkey for almost 4 months and I've experienced SO MANY rude people that I don't even take it personally anymore. But these guys were next level.

I am a black Canadian, and my Indian friend and I could only conclude that it was due to our ethnicities. I freaking HATE pulling the race card... but it was and still is the only explanation for them blocking our entry while letting everyone else in without issue.

Normally, when people are rude in Turkey, they at least give you an answer as to why. But these people simply did not want us in there... end of. As for everyone else who was Turkish-looking and Turkish-speaking, they were let in.

Geeze. I'm sooo sorry for trying to contribute to your dying and overpriced economy. From reading the other reviews here, it appears that the drinks are severely expensive and that the atmosphere and the rudeness of the staff just ain't worth it. They would never get away with such behaviour in my neck of the woods. They'd be fired and blackballed IMMEDIATELY.

Long story short... DON'T COME HERE and DON'T SUPPORT a business that hires rude and racist staff. No wonder this place is only rated at 3.5...

BIG SCAM

Awful place we’ve been here to have a beer they charged us 300 TL per 33cl Efes Beer and additionally 100 TL for nuts (even though we didn’t order). I was confused about the price and ask the table next to me what they pay… We scanned the QR for the menu and it was just 200 TL. The woman spoke with the waiter and after she discussed with him they gave us the money back.

They owned us 600 TL (20 Euro) and gave us first just 580 TL … again discussion and finally we got the money back!

I am really happy that the Turkish woman helped us otherwise the wouldn’t have given us back the money.

So don’t come here it’s...

En tant que Français et malentendant, j’ai rarement été accueilli avec autant de mépris et d’agressivité. Dès notre arrivée, l’ambiance était hostile. Nous sommes pourtant venus avec respect, pour célébrer un anniversaire. Et là, on tombe sur un serveur d'une incompétence accablante, absolument incapable de gérer un service professionnel, mais très habile quand il s’agit de créer des tensions inutiles et de soutirer le moindre centime aux clients. Nous savons parfaitement comment fonctionne un service digne de ce nom. Nous avons voyagé, nous connaissons l’hôtellerie-restauration, et ce qu’on a vu ici est une honte. Ce serveur ne maîtrise ni la politesse, ni la gestion des conflits, ni le respect du client. Et comble du mépris : un digestif offert par une amie pour fêter l’occasion nous a été refusé, alors qu’il avait été payé et que nous étions encore sur place. C’était un moment censé être joyeux. Un anniversaire. Et il a été littéralement saccagé par l’attitude déplorable d’un employé toxique qui ne devrait jamais être en salle.

Ce genre de comportement est intolérable. Ce serveur n’est ni professionnel, ni recommandable. Il a réussi à transformer un moment de partage en humiliation...
