So good, we went back again the following evening! 🥰
As everyone does, when looking for a restaurant for a special occasion ( our wedding anniversary meal out! ), we did our research!
Gusta was our choice! And we were not disappointed!
We booked a table for 2 on the roof terrace, with a beautiful view over the harbour and Marmaris bay itself.
We were greeted warmly, and seated while we waited for our table to become available ( we were early! ), then guided upstairs to our lovely table by Terry - our fantastic waiter for both evenings!
Terry was excellent! - friendly, attentive, funny, and guided us through the menu - explaining what the dishes were.
Our 1st meal there (* we went back again the next night! As it was so good! ), we ordered the Garlic mushrooms and a prawn cocktail starter - both were excellent! . For our main course, we shared what you would call a " seafood platter ". With fresh shellfish, Salmon, Sea bream, Calamari, and quite frankly - the best cooked Octopus I have ever tasted! 😋 . We followed that with a shares dessert! All washed down with glasses of house Rose`.
It was such a lovely meal, we decided to return the following evening for more of the same!
This time, again, seated on the terrace overlooking the beautiful boats etc.. we had a meze starter, and again! - the excellent Garlic mushrooms! 😋🥰
Main courses this time -
Freshly cooked Mussels! (* arrived earlier that afternoon! ) in a white wine/creamy sauce!. Now this was special! - a huge bowl of large mussels! With fries on the side (* to be honest, it didn't need them! 😋 but some nice crusty bread would have been great to mop up that sauce! 😋 ).
The Norwegian Salmon risotto! - my wife's choice! And she was overwhelmed by the quality! Saying it was the best tasting Salmon she had ever had!
We were stuffed! 😋😊
But then......
Our gracious hosts suggested a cappuccino to finish the evening! - duly accepted! And enjoyed! Along with a small bite or to of Baclava! Just to sweeten things!
Overall two absolutely amazing evenings! With very high quality food, service and beautiful surroundings.
We can highly recommend Terry and everyone at Gusta! Go there! You won't...
Read moreGusta bar and grill appears to be a nice place, they have a nice location and good food, however, this is ruined by the treatment received by the owners and the waiters. Unfortunately they prioritise foreign customers (Caucasian) over locals and people of colour. They paid significantly more attention to them and often ignored us at times, while every other paying customer received complimentary water, starters and desert and tea, we were offered none, looking around at everyone else receiving this but us, the only people of colour this made us feel uncomfortable. Thankfully the kind couple next to us noticed this and got up off of their own accord and told the waiters that its wrong that we werent getting treated the same as them. Only then did they bring out a starter shortly after however we still didnt receive the water or desert everyone else was offered, or any politeness from the waiter. What a sad state of affairs, at the end of the day money is money, everyone should be treated equally instead they choose to brown nose certain demographics. They have also increased the prices of drinks by 500% over the past 3 years and food 200%....
Read moreAmongst all annoying restaurant hacklers in marina, Mehmet and Oktay managed to win my heart with humour, politeness and genuine smile. I ended up passing by Gusta every day whether for just a coffee pr drink, or for a proper meal.
My resume, this restaurant deserves more recognition for the food that hides behind a non-assuming menu. Chef Akil is really skilled and I wish I had more chances to try his dishes. He serves not just a touristic trap flare, but truly good food for every taste.
My favourite was seabass in vine leaves. Their fried calamari also stood out for freshness, perfect doneness and being not oily. Mussels in white sauce were good. Their potato fries were truly outstanding, crunchy with soft center, and could be served on any corner in Amsterdam. I heard other guests complimenting every meat and seafood dishes they had.
Languages spoken are Turkish, English and even Russian (at least what I've heard), making it comfortable for every tourist. Waiters are attentive, very pleasant. Prices are very reasonable for such a...
