A must if you're visiting Istanbul. Just as you'd try to visit Les Deux Magots cafe in Paris, you must visit Emirgan Sutis along the Bosphorous. Emirgan is a charming enclave along the 'Bogaz', and breakfast along the Bosphorous, beneath the 400 yr old trees is truly magical. Sutis has ample seating areas, an outdoor area beneath the trees, a terrace, and a beautiful indoor area with chandeliers and all. This is where many famous writers, poets, artists and locals came for inspiration. The waiters are well versed and add to the ambiance in their bowties If you come for breakfast, try to get their early to beat the crowds. Otherwise, be prepared to wait for a table outdoors, though the view is spectacular and makes the wait bearable. If you come for lunch or dinner, the wait usually is not as long, since this is mostly where the locals like to have breakfast and/or brunch. In terms of food : well, the Turkish breakfast spread is a gourmet experience. The 'olmazsa olmaz' ( not to be missed) are: Menemen ( scrambled eggs Turkish style with tomatoes and green peppers with the optional Kayseri cheese) , borek. ( both feta cheese and or beef) , grilled Hellim cheese, olives, bal/kaymak( honey with clotted cream) , simit ( sesame bagels) and the list can go on. Make sure to have ample Turkish tea with it all. and after you've enjoyed ALL your breakfast, top it off with a 'sekersiz' ( no sugar) Turkish coffee as a digestive and to sit a bit longer in the shade of those...

Read moreSutis in Emirgan, Istanbul is a hidden gem that is a must-visit if you are in the area. Despite the challenges of getting there, this restaurant is worth the trip. The chaos inside might detract from some people's dining experience, but the fast and courteous service more than makes up for it.
The desserts at Sutis are the standout feature. They are delicious and make the trip to the restaurant worth it on their own. The prices are also very reasonable, so you can indulge your sweet tooth without breaking the bank.
The location of Sutis on the Bosphorus is the icing on the cake. The views up and down the strait are priceless and make for a truly memorable dining experience. However, be prepared for cigarette smoke if you opt to dine in the open air. It can be a bit chilly, but the beautiful views make up for it.
