The Plum is a small, charming restaurant in the Ariana Hotel. The restaurant overlooks the valley which provides a beautiful view while seated. The decor inside is an extension of the hotel. A restoration look with chic wooden furniture. The staff is polite and professional. Given it’s a small restaurant in a small hotel, the dishes are prepared individually and come out as they are ready. We ordered a few items that were vegetarian friendly and shared between the two of us. Their avocado salad was very refreshing and light. It’s made with greens, thinly sliced avocados, and apples, topped with walnuts and dried apricots, in a vinaigrette dressing. The vegetable egg rolls were tasty and had a lot of stuffing. Our favorite dish was an appetizer item which was roasted/charred eggplant and zucchini stuffed with lentils. They were presented in 3 “chucks” which were sitting in a bowl of yogurt. The combination of every just worked and came together very well. Our main entree was parapadelle with mushrooms and an Alfredo sauce. Which tasted as expected, since it’s a typical dish. For dessert we tried a Turkish item called Kunefe. It’s a warm dessert made a spun pastry called kataifi and cheese, drizzled with honey and topped with a Buffalo milk “ricotta” cheese. The kataifi looks like very thin glassy noodles. We also tried their local wine Emir, it’s a white wine. I found it comparable to a Pinot Grigio.
If you go right before sunset, you can enjoy dinner during the sunset or at least step out on the patio to watch the sunset. Note, they do have outdoor seating but it was very windy the night we had dinner, so the tables were not set up. Reservations are highly recommended as it's a...
Read moreDuring our 2 night stay at Ariana, we dined at the Plum restaurant a few times. The breakfast service was extremely slow. It look a while before we even got menus. The only juice that they had each morning was OJ. Not even pomegranate which is popular for Turkey or a green juice. The chef did not prepare the eggs as requested well done. Also no fruits requested were ever brought out. The eggs benedict and oatmeal were a complete joke. Just look at the pics and judge for yourself. On white toast with the edges cut off...really? The egg was pitiful. The oatmeal was drenched and soupy. After our first dining experience, we planned to go outside of the hotel to dinner, but due to heavy rains ended up at the Plum again. The pasta had no taste, and the presentation could be better. The desert was awful. Instead of caramelizing the banana, it looks and tasted like I was just eating a banana. This restaurant is in desperate need of a revamp!! Comparing with the brunch we had nearby at Maria's breakfast (which was the best meal during our stay in Cappadocia), night and day. Furthermore, we were never asked how our meal /...
Read moreWhat a superb find in Cappadocia. Exceptional attentive and knowledgable staff. Gorgeous sun terraces with "hobby" sized vineyard laced with lavender overlooking a breathtaking view of Goreme. Come to stay or have cocktails on the terrace before dinner. Chef Mustafa's cuisine is on point. Must try the shorba (soup of the day) and the lavender infused pannacotta!!
Though a luxury find in the region, totally affordable compared to eurpoean and North America meals with a dicerning local winelist. The charming manager Vehbi is also a sommelier. Perfect, kind service from the whole team (Kaan and Seren). Bravo.
The fact that they made the hotel sustainable means it can be with class, beauty and attention to detail. LOVE it.
We hope to come and stay with you...
