Whenever we travel, my partner and I make it a priority to dive into local cuisine to support the community and experience the region’s authentic flavors. Seki Restaurant in Cappadocia delivered an unforgettable dining experience that exceeded all expectations.

We were seated outdoors, where we were treated to a stunning view of Tiraz Castle, its silhouette against the Cappadocian landscape creating a magical backdrop for the evening. The service, led by our wonderful waiter Cadiz and the warm, welcoming hostess Yagmur, was exceptional from start to finish—truly from soup to nuts. Cadiz’s attentive and friendly demeanor made every moment special, while Yagmur’s gracious hospitality set the perfect tone from the moment we arrived. Their attention to detail elevated the entire experience.

This was our first trip to Turkey and will for sure be our last. I have traveled all over the world and I expect to pay a little more from time to time as a tourist. However Turkey takes it to a whole new level. This country will rip you off any chance it gets and Seki is no exception.

We stopped for a few cocktails and to enjoy the view. We ordered 4 in total. 2 double Yeni Raki (cheapest) My wife got a margarita and a spicy passion something. This bill should have been about 2200 TL.

However, the waiter suggested my wife switch to Mezcal instead of tequila for her margarita, with no mention of an upcharge. Then when we ordered our second round the waiter again suggested Mezcal. She said yes and as they were walking away they mentioned it would be an upcharge. Our fault for not checking the cost of that upcharge but we figured how much more could it be.

To our surprise there was an 1800 TL upcharge for the mezcal about 800 TL more than what was listed on the menu for the cocktails ordered and they billed me for an upgraded Raki that was not ordered. Bringing our total to 3300TL for 4 drinks! Over $100 usd! Buyer beware, Turkey will scam you if they can.

Such a shame because the country itself is full of history and natural beauty, but the amount of people trying to take advantage of you really tarnished the experience.
