Don't order from here through Jumia!
Tried ordering a simple meal, wait time 75min which is fine and normal in Kampala. 30min in I get a from Jumia notifying us of a problem with one of the menu items, apparently they were out of seafood for one of the salads we ordered which was fine we asked it just be replaced with chicken and not delay the order. When I didn't get the call back to confirm the change, as had been promised by the rep I spoke to, I called the restaurant directly. I asked them to simply make the order with chicken and that seemed fine. Another 10min goes by and I get a very strange and incoherent call from the Cafe Roma manager to tell me he is cancelling my Jumia order but supposedly putting the food through anyway, but he had only started preparing it when I first called him. I don't understand why he was trying to cancel my order but at this point I don't care I just want our food and say so, but am concerned since he just started prepping it that it would be additional time. I ask this and try to make this clear and he repeatedly interrupts me and talks straight over me, when I ask him to let me finish my question he hangs up. I alerted Jumia and they called the facility- the manager then tells them I cancelled the order (I did not). This is horrible customer service and really entirely unnecessary for such a small menu change that we didn't even mind. I had planned to visit Cafe Roma plenty as its nearby but have no interest in giving business to a place that thinks it's ok to hang up on customers and cancel their order...
Read moreAwful customer service, but tasty pizzas.
I went there as it’s branded as “kid friendly”. The play area looks a little dated and the seating area where parents can view the kids play is too close to the toilets and dated compared to the rest of the restaurant. Also no ramp to access play area if you have a pram/buggy.
Pros: they have a high chair but no crayons for kids
Tasty food, we had the tiramisu and chocolate cake (wish it was warm though), steak fillet and pizza
Cons: *Reception staff are frosty, there were three people at the front desk and none of them said hello or welcomed us.
*the staff are inattentive , I had to get up and ask for more serviettes, new plates after our starters, and cutlery for our starter. Also had to request for our table to be cleared before dessert as staff were occupied cleaning empty tables and taking order for new patrons.
*It’s too dark at night and you can’t read the menu. They use these old school petrols lanterns which are environmentally unfriendly and had my son coughing. Ended up using my phone torch to order...
Read moreThe steak was delicious! a realy nice spot to sit and enjoy a great atmosphere under the shade tree or the open covered areas and booths which are cozy even if its raining. Pizza, lasagnia, and other dishes were consistently good, friendly service. The dessert menu is a little low on choices and variety. The specialty coffee is good but a regular pot of coffee is on the weak side. The toilets are clean and there is a good amount of parking available. On the whole a well thought out experience thats well worth a reasonable premium in price for this kind of restauraunt/caffee where one could spend a morning, afternoon or evening with...
