This place at best is a sports bar trying very hard to be a Mexican restaurant and I say that because the food is inexcusably atrocious. We had to ask for the bar menu which as you can see on Zomato is quite extensive and more expensive than most places; they reluctantly returned with the menu and informed us that the prices were actually 10% higher than listed! One of the ladies asked for a cosmopolitan as soon as we sat down and that took 25 minutes! No, the restaurant was not busy! We ordered 2 guacamole and it was very good although it could have done with a little more lime! I ordered the grilled Angus beef (AED 145) medium-rare from their "Specialities" listing. All the food arrived quite quickly. The Angus beef was about half a centimeter thick at the edges and perhaps a little more than a centimeter thick at the centre and i'd be surprised if it was more than 200 gms in total. The sauce looked like someone had rinsed the pan and poured it over the beef as an after thought and it tasted like it too. The beef itself was difficult to slice through an inedibly chewy which is inexcusable for a medium-rare so i sent it back. It was quickly replaced with another one but this time it was closer to well-done than medium rare; less chewy and very dry! So I decided to call it quits but they insisted I have something else so I ended up with salmon which was over-cooked but I didn't point it out because I didn't want to go through another round of roulette with their menu! 2 of the others ordered the beef tenderloin from the "Specialities" listing and what they don't tell you is that they "hammer" it out to the thickness of a minute steak; that together with its shapelessness would have made it look like spoof vomit ... if it had any moisture. I tried a piece and it was just as it looked ... dry! Again, I'd be shocked it was more than 200 gms which at AED 120/- is very pricey. Oh yes, all the specialities come with a couple of tablespoons of dry rice and beans if you can bring yourself to eat it. So, if you are looking for a sports bar there are proper sports bars with bigger screens, cheaper drinks and food that you can go to at 5-star hotels! If you want Mexican food, find another one failing which keep away from what we ordered. The reason I mentioned the price is because wehad a 350 gm ribeye for around the same price and it was melt-in-you-mouth good! On the drive back home I realised it could all have been a lot worse ... had I ordered off the their...
Read moreLoca Restaurant & Bar in Dubai was an absolute gem for a family night out. As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options available, and the overall experience was nothing short of fantastic.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lively yet relaxed vibe that made for the perfect dining setting. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great time.
One of the highlights of the meal was the tableside guacamole. Watching it being prepared fresh right in front of us, customized exactly to our taste, was a treat in itself. The flavors were incredible—perfectly creamy, with just the right balance of lime, spice, and freshness. And as a bonus, they even gave us some salsa to take home for free, which was a really nice touch.
The rest of the meal was just as impressive. The vegetarian options were well thought out and packed with flavor, making it clear that Loca doesn’t just cater to meat-eaters. Everything we tried—from the sizzling veggie fajitas to the flavorful enchiladas—was delicious and perfectly cooked.
Beyond the food, the overall experience was what really made the night special. The atmosphere struck a great balance between energetic and comfortable, making it a fantastic spot for both casual dining and special occasions.
If you’re looking for a place in Dubai with excellent food, welcoming service, and a great vibe, Loca is absolutely worth a visit. Whether you’re vegetarian or not, you’re in for a treat! My only regret? Not taking pictures of the meal—because it looked just as good...
Read moreWe visited Loca Restaurant & Bar in Dubai and had a mixed experience overall. We ordered Hoegaarden beer, Nachos de la Casa, and Churros with caramel sauce.
First of all, the Hoegaarden beer was excellent – honestly one of the highlights of our visit. Refreshing, smooth, and served perfectly cold. It paired really well with the food.
The Nachos de la Casa were also very satisfying. The portion was generous, the toppings were flavorful, and everything felt well put together. The blend of toppings made it a dish worth recommending if you’re coming here with friends for drinks and bites.
On the other hand, the Churros with caramel sauce were a bit disappointing. They came out very hard, to the point that it was actually difficult to eat them. I was expecting something crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, but instead they felt overly dense and tough. The caramel sauce was tasty, but it couldn’t quite make up for the texture of the churros.
Overall, Loca is a good spot for drinks and tasty bites like the nachos and beer, but I wouldn’t recommend the churros. Still, it’s a nice place in Dubai if you’re after good vibes and...
