Staff so welcoming and friendly our stay started off great and only got better. On the app you can bid on an upgrade if one is available for your dates for a fraction of the cost which is a great idea. Car parking is available on site. We booked 2 rooms both were huge, spotlessly clean and had all the facilities required for a comfortable stay. We had a suite which was huge with a separate living area and comfy Super king bed. The bar area has a snooker table in it, although closed at 10pm it was made available to residents. Great Location, we were going to P&J Live which is only a 20minute walk away, also convenient to a Tesco Metro and Greggs, if required. It was Dads 50th Birthday and the hotel went above and beyond. The hotel put birthday banners on the door and in the room with a birthday card, which we did not expect and this made our trip extra special. Room was ok but far too hot, were told at reception to put a bucket of ice in front of a fan to cool it down - rather noisy and prehistoric! - and it was so hot the ice turned quickly to water anyway! The breakfast was very poor- when we said there were no sausages, bacon or black pudding, the staff member said 'how many do you want' and cooked that amount only, and the water in the flasks for tea was cold - we went down early too! But worst of all, we paid £10 for 2 nights' parking on arrival and less than 2 weeks later were issued with a £100 fine from Parkingeye! We phoned 2 people in reception who passed it from pillar to post, then sent an email to the hotel. Eventually, 2 days later, we managed to speak to the designated person who deals with parking fines - it must happen a lot - and the next day she sent me a curt 1 line email to say it had been cancelled. AWFUL customer service which is a shame because I have stayed here previously in mid 2021 and it was pleasant enough. Having booked the holiday weekend several months in advance, with 4 days to go before jubilee weekend, they called and cancelled my booking. No reason given. Just nope, it’s cancelled, goodbye.||I asked for an alternative and was told that was outwith their control (very good but get someone who can) and then to add insult to injury, they’ve already taken payment despite it being payment ON ARRIVAL. This money now floats in their system for 2 WEEKS until I get it back.
